Craftsman "max axess" series toolsets?

So I need a toolset to start with. I'm definitely doing DIY on my car. I searched it already, every post basically points to Craftsman tools as a good starter set.

So why am I still asking? Because Sears and Craftsman love to change their sites so their links break. In other words, every single post I've found with a link to a recommended toolset, is a broken link.

Anyway, anyone have opinions about the Craftsman "Max Axess" tool sets? I'm specifically looking at this one: http://www.sears.com/craftsman-113-p...1&blockType=G1

A buddy of mine had max access Craftsman sockets and they're really nice for some things, but I wouldn't have them as my only socket set. Craftsman makes a really nice mechanics toolbox, that's what I started with and it has pretty much everything you'll need for basic maintenance. When you run into a job that the Craftsman mechanic set won't cover you for then I'd go buy the more specialty sets like the max access and ratcheting wrenches and all that fancy stuff. They're nice but I wouldn't own just those.

EDIT: Here's the link for what I have http://www.sears.com/craftsman-230-p...1&blockType=G1

Craftsmen on sale imo is a great bang for ur buck! But for bigger stuff ie power tools I'm a snap on/Mac tools guy. All 3 have great lifetime warrenties.

That second crafstman set looks great....you always want deep sockets in your arsenal, there is always that one bolt. Don't be afraid to supplement with a set of screwdrivers (of all sizes), a set of all different wrenches (and some vice grips), and of course a hammer and some PB Blaster. Should make a good set.

I personally have a Lowe's toolset, which was a 300pc, on sale for $100. Love their stuff as well (despite my dislike for Jimmie Johnson).

This is the one I had, with a few of my own additions, which fit in the bottom drawer: http://www.lowes.com/pd_573344-22328...7C1&facetInfo=

Love that set.

That Craftsman set linked there looks like a good deal, $100 only.. Apparently its 50% off right now, are these sales real or is it just a fake MSRP and theyre actually always this cheap?

Also, is it really necessary to have both SAE and Metric?

I certainly don't abuse my tools, or use them often, but I've never had an issue...and I was told by the guy helping me shop for tools that all the kobalt stuff can be brought back and exchanged for brand new, if broken. Same with Craftsman. I would recommend this set for a guy just wrenching out in the driveway, nothing too serious as I haven't abused my stuff.

the lifetime warranty thing from craftsman (and others, supposedly...) has always worked well for me.

Im no pro, and I don't break tools often, but its nice to know that when/if I break a ratched or screwdriver doing something stupid it gets replaced.

If you Stay with Japaneesse cars you only need metric. But it never hurts to have both.
