That can be controlled with the tire pressures. Run less PSI on the street for comfort, and run more when you plan on tossing the car around corners

Conti DWs or MPSS?

No contest. MPSS is the clear winner

OP states he's hesitant about the Michelin because of price? They are exactly $32.00 more expensive for four 225/45-17s at Discount Tire today than the DWs are. For a tire that handles nearly every driving situation better, is considerably quieter on the road, and wears a whole lot longer, is there any real comparison?

Thats why im looking at the MPSS over the B-stone's, at 27$ more the 108 extra just seem to be worth it. For every bad review i can find on the MPSS i find 15 positives, where as the other tires the reviews are not as one sided. unfortunately 265/35-18 are out of stock until mid April

Is 25,000 miles a reasonable expectation with MPSS'? I do 110 miles a day with ~80 of that highway miles and the rest city and suburbs. I ask because at 35k/yr I'd like to only need to replace them once a year with the other 10 on winter tires. The other question I have is how are they in the rain? We get a lot...

Ive read on tire rack that many have around the 30k mark on the tires. i see 20-30 as the norm, unless running aggressive camber and toe settings. Also seems to perform good in wet conditions according to the tests they provide

Thanks. That's what I needed to hear.

MPSS all the way.

So, I put the 225/45 MPSS on 17x8 GTF1s on the car last night. I was pleasantly surprised that the ride is slightly improved over stock, thanks to the ~3.3 lb per corner reduction. The amount of road noise is incredible, though. I can't make any meaningful comment on grip given that they are fresh and it is still just above freezing here. (Yup, i jumped the gun but 1010 delivered faster than expected). The steering feels much more direct and a bit heavier. Some of that will be due to the increased contact patch width given the wider, flatter profile and some due to the offset (35mm vs 48mm). So far I like them a lot.
