EZ oil drain same as Fumoto?
Hi all, have been thinking of getting Fumoto oil drain valves for my cars. With US exchange, shipping and potential customs fee I decided to see if there was a Canadian vendor.
Happened upon an official vendor website for the EZ oil drain valve. Although not identical it appears to be of the same construction and materials. Only concern is it looks like the part that screws into the oil pan might be a thread or two longer which could leave more residual oil in the pan. Their #108 has same threads and diameter as Fumoto #108 (coincidence?). Their website doesn't seem to search valve size for model years 13 or later but the tthread size/diameter indicates FA20 takes same valve as 2011 Outback 2.5 L just as Fumoto does. I like free shipping for buying 2 as well as no exchange or customs. Has anyone here used this product, and if so please provide feedback. This could be a good deal for Canadians especially if 2 or more ordered together if its legit. |
Wow, 112 reads and not a single person who has heard of it???
Somebody Google it (we aren't supposed to post vendors links) and give an opinion! Makes me very hesitant to provide credit card info to their online store. |
For a small piece of metal that is responsible for keeping all of your oil from dumping out of your engine, I'd go with the reputable, name-brand piece.

Found this before I purchased my fumoto. Would love to hear feedback on it as well as the fumoto is hella expensive to ship to Canada!

I see it is also offered on Amazon US but no free shipping to Canada.

I'm pretty sure I ordered the EZ version of the valve. I'm travelling right now so I can't check my computer but will once I get back. Whichever version I have works just fine BTW.

Just remembered I had posted about this in the Ottawa thread. I did in fact order the EZ version.

I'm pretty sure it came with a gasket. I know when I ordered mine it didn't have the FRS in the list but I confirmed the thread diameter and pitch and ordered that one. I will confirm the model I ordered when I get back.

Item # EZ-108. Just ordered them. Price $23.98 + HST free delivery.
Fumoto was same price in US$ plus shipping and likely customs 13% +$8. inspection, so I just saved possibly more than 40% on the purchase vs Fumoto. Reviews on Amazon show nothing negative and both are made of the same nickel plated brass with nylon rotating ball valve so I'm guessing it will work just fine. |
Enjoy your EZ oil changes!

For anyone else considering buying these, the only complaint I see is they use a urethane gasket vs the fibrous washer with Fumoto. I plan to install them using a crush washer so I can orient the valve with the open/close lever facing in the desired orientation.

Update: Received the 2 EZ drain valves I had ordered. For reference, the twins use the EZ-108. They look to be virtually identical to Fumoto except; urethane gasket vs fibrous washer, different branding stamped on them, and they are silver plated brass vs brass gold colour finish.
Suggestion for anyone who buys them, use a crush washer to allow adjustment for which direction the valve switch faces. In my WRX it was necessary to turn the valve switch to the open position to allow room to screw the valve on. The advantage to this product for Canadian buyers is that you get free shipping for ordering 2 or more and the Canadian unit price is the same as the US unit price on the Fumoto. I figured I saved about 40% buying these vs the Fumoto and the quality looks great. Recommended, especially if you can order more than 1 at a time. Simply Google EZ Drain valve Canada and you will find the website. |
