Hood stand?
 

I accidently hit my hood prop or stand or whatever its called and this piece broke off. Is there a part number for it or what should i do.

Upgrade to hood struts!

Go to dealer and order one..........or buy the GrimmSpeed hood struts which are awesome. Look in the DIY section for some pics I added recently.

It's a sign to get hood struts. Probably close to list price for that fitting anyway.

I highly recommend Redline Tuning hood struts for this car. Personally I think they are much higher quality than the GrimmSpeed ones. They are cheaper too, they highest level kit is $120 whereas the Grimmspeed kit is $140. Plus the Redline kit comes in both Black and Stainless and has two stage opening so it doesn't slam your hood open at the top of it's travel arc like the Grimmspeed does...

What are the benefits of using struts aside from having the hood open more? Wouldn't you have to replace the struts over time? It's not like our hood is terribly heavy. If I had to pick, I would rather stick with my conventional prop.

If you are in there a lot it is nice to not have the brace in your road. When I used to work on my own cars I despised that thing and replaced it as soon as I could.

I'm sure those pieces are cheap as dirt from the dealer. I'd also keep the hood prop even if I got the lift struts as who knows when they could go out...

Hood struts give you more room to work under the hood of your car. Just think if you ever do a crank pulley with a breaker bar and you hit that bar holding up the hood. It won't be pleasant.

Get the hood struts like everyone suggested. You will be much happier and that's how the car should have come. Subaru just doesn't believe in them.
