Odd smell
Hey. Serious question. I've installed a new carbon fiber hood and a cusco air/oil separator. Ever since then, I've noticed a weird smell coming out of the engine bay when I get out of the car. I've checked all the new hoses from the oil/air separator and nothing is melting or anything. Is it probably just the glue from the carbon fiber hood?
Thanks, Tim |
really? 143 people can read this and not say anything? not even a joke about how its me that smells? Gee. I was actually looking for constructive help, but now, I'll accept anything. Its going away so I think it probably was the glue on the Seibon heating up and smelling.

I DO NOT SMELL
what type of smell, oily, checmical, solvent, plastic/rubber burning etc?
it was like a plastic rubbery chemically smell, but its mostly gone now. Figured it was from the carbon fiber hood heating up.
Probably the hood then.
If the hood had just been clearcoated, could have been from that. Kind of like smelling fresh paint after the body shop
I think it might have been clearcoat, glue/epoxy related:http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gd-exter...ber-smell.html

Sounds like a swarm of deadly polymers have a hive under your hood. If they get pissed, they can kill. Try about a gallon of Seafoam.

ths is the now hood smell .... after exposure to the sun and the heat from the engine it disappear
It's only smells
