what about running race gas? shouldn't there be some sort of points added for that?

D1cker 01-22-2015 07:34 PM

^ They're actually encouraging everyone to run a blend due to our cars being happier with higher octane fuel. I'm running ~ 95 octane in my car

I also add 1-2 gals of 100 octane at the track, for a 93+ octane mix. When race gas is not available I use Torco octane booster.

Do you need any special tune for this? Or just drive around slow for a while for the car to learn the new fuel trims?

Owner's manual: The engine is designed to operate at maximum performance using unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 93 or higher. If 93 fuel is not readily available in your area, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 may be used with no detriment to engine durability or driveability. However, you may notice a slight decrease in maximum engine performance and you may hear some knocking (pinking) of an engine while using 91 fuel

Looks like round 3 of the 86 Cup was moved to 3/29/2015.

Speed Ventures just called me to move me to Sunday.

don't be discouraged by your experience. there's a ton of people who attend this event who would be more than glad to give you a few pointers and probably ride along!

All the track events are open to all cars, we just compare our times for the cup.

You can't compete in the 86 Cup in a different car, but you can come and enjoy the day with any care you like!
