Pro-Kit Installed, but...
Hello,
this is my first car, and i am new to the whole car modification thing. Basically i lowered with Pro-Kit springs (very happy with the results, will post pictures later) I had it aligned right after install. There are two issues that i am concerned with: 1. I am hearing its not so good to aligned your car right after installing them because it would be best to have the springs settled before aligning, is this true? do i need a realignement again in the near future? 2. Do i need any camber adjustments for these springs? it is only 1 inch drop, and the mechanic said it wasn't necessary. But i would like to ask the people here, rather than trusting the mechanic (first time @ that shop) |
1. It doesn't take much to let the springs "settle." Drive the car 50 miles, get an alignment, and you're good.
2. Need...no. There is the super cheap OEM camber bolt (less than 10 bucks) that will help you get a little camber up front for better handling. It's not a lot of camber so it won't cause excessive wear...just a little bit to help the car handle better. - Andy |

The rear gains natural camber, some camber bolts up front would be all thats needed, i havent memorized camber ranges for this car yet so i'll let Myles or Andy or @CSG Mike to answer those.

Toe changes with height change, and that's the REAL reason you want to get an alignment after dropping the car. Drive the car for 50-100 miles to let everything settle in place, and then get an alignment. Bad toe can make the car behave erratically, massively increase tire wear, etc. |

I will be installing RCE springs soon and installing wheels/brake upgrades/and alignment no earlier than a week after the springs. I imagine a 20mm lower will not affect camber/toe very much, is this correct? When the alignment is performed, should I specify the need for slight toe in? Or is this some sort of golden rule that works on all cars and all shops know to do it? muchos gracias edit - holy shit your shop is in OC? I might have to come by |

@CSG Mike - If you have 3.0 Neg camber at the front, What would you recommend at the rear? I'm at 1.5 at the rear now. Toe is Zero all round.
