I thought long and hard about a set of track wheels.

I wanted something light-weight, not too much $$$, and it needed to fit with my brakes and fenders.

RPF1 are popular, but their 17x9 +45 (or something like that offset) didn't fit the Essex BBK I will use. 17x9.5 +38 did, but I was worried about fender rubbing in the rear.

I also though about a few other wheels, like Kosei, but say too many pics of them cracking.

Heck, even the RPF1s seem to bend very easy.

I looked long and hard to find someone that broke or bent the Mach V Awesome wheel, and I couldn't find anyone. Besides, they were a bit cheaper.

Thanks for the reply, @LittleBlueGT.

@enjoi23, we have a LOT of track and auto-x customers using these wheels, and have heard no complaints. Here are some action shots...

For anyone looking at this now, I just bought a set of these wheels with Direzza ZIIs in 245/40R17 that do in fact rub on the spring (running Swift Spec Rs) with the camber bolt maxed out and the remaining camber from camber plates. Will have to order small spacers, which I hope wont cause rubbing on the fender.

Bummer you're out of silver! Oh well. Gunmetal on GBS it is.

Too bad you don't make an 18x8 or 18x9.

Any idea when the silver 17x9 will be back in stock?

giuliodido 09-05-2015 11:39 AM

Hi Dan,

is there any news regarding a 17x7.5 or 17x8 version? Is there a chance that they will come out or the BBK / standard brake spacing issue is a no-go?

Thanks,
GDD

Still a chance. Probably we'd do a version that will NOT clear big brakes, but would be 17x8 and even lighter than the 17x9 model. How many of you would be interested?

Did you know? Goldfish are a domesticated version of Asian wild carp. Domestication happened around 1000-1240 A.D.

Did you know? The dung beetle Scarabaeus sacer was considered sacred to the ancient Egyptians. They equated the dung beetle's rolling of a ball of dung to the sun god Ra rolling the sun across the sky.

17X8?

Any update on the possibility of 17X8, or 17X9? Looking for a nice lightweight option.

Yes, we'll eventually do a 17x8. No dates yet.

It's already a 17x9, which is nice and light at 17.8 pounds.. Plenty of information on that further up in this thread.

I miss this design.

I had the original design in forged back in 2002 on my S13.
