Soon. Going to be hitting the track in the next 1-2 weeks. Also planning on doing a photo day in the nearby canyons. Gotta have myself some nice clean shots of the car with it's new shoes.

zkubidu 11-24-2012 11:03 PM

Got some more photos.

Also note, with brand new 245/40-17 RS3 and with TPMS sensors, each wheel came out to 43.5lbs. Stock weighed in at 43.0 on my scale.

I think your wheels are really nice. I would like to see them in gold or bronze. Also, I think a 17x8 or better yet a 17x7 would be awesome. I want to keep the car lively and too much tire will muck things up in that regard.

Mach V Wicked Awesome 18x9.5 -- click me!

This size would probably need a wheel spacer in front to clear the strut. We haven't fit 'em up yet.

Edit: The wheel does NOT run into the front strut, but tire clearance will be very tight, so use caution.

"Awesome!"

Dan I've got a track day coming up on feb 8th and was going to order up the 17x9 untill I saw this. Any chance you got clearance tests yet on this Wicked Awesome 18x9.5?

We just did today. The wheel DOES clear the strut in the front, although it's tight. You won't be able to run a very wide tire, or the tire will run into the spring perch. (You could potentially trim the perch, and/or use a spacer to move the wheel out enough...)

My guess is that a 245/35R18 will probably clear, but a 255 may not. I'm not sure, though -- that wide of a wheel means the sidewall will be pretty sloped, so even the 255 MIGHT fit...

I'll probably just stick to the 17's then. Any pictures? :coolpics:

Are skinnoer wheels still in the works (17x8 ish)? Really like the design on these and they're already pretty light, but could you make something even lighter at 17x7 or 8?

Beautiful look.

FYI: OEM tire weight is listed elsewhere as 41.4 lbs.

I will probably purchase the same wheels but go with Contis instead to save three pounds. For 245 40 17, Continental Extreme Contacts are 22 pounds, whereas the RS3 are 25lbs.

Would be awesome if you could make a color option in between the silver and gunmetal as well. I love the hyper black finish on the discontinued 5zigen FN01R-C.
