Choices, choices.

Hey guys,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a BRZ this week, but I'm stuck between two offers right now.

The first one is a 2013 in WR Blue Pearl (The exact color I have wanted from the start) with 26k miles on it. I'd have to drive about 7 hours each way to pick it up, it has aftermarket rims and the silver dash paneling has been replaced with a carbon fiber style. These are both things I like and want. The previous owner actually works at the dealership, so it should be pretty well taken care of and maintained.

The second one is in black (My least favorite BRZ color. No offense to anybody who owns a black BRZ here, I just think it's the color that stands out the least, and to be perfectly honest, I like the idea of having a car that stands out. In the 8 months I've been in Las Vegas, I haven't seen a single WR Blue Pearl BRZ driving around in my part of town. I know they exist, I just haven't seen one. Matter of fact, I've only seen one white BRZ driving around. I see a lot of FR-S however, and often in black. Heck, there's a black FR-S in my apartment complex from time to time.)

Now, that being said, the black one only has 75 miles on it. It's also a 2013 model as well and it was just never sold as it's in a very small city in another state. It's about a 15 hour drive away (Which I really, REALLY don't want to do) and is literally brand new, with warranty and everything. Additionally, the interest rate on the loan is a little better.

Respraying the black one is just too expensive to justify, so if I get it, it's probably staying black. I wouldn't be particularly unhappy with the car, I'm sure, especially if I get some all black rims for it. Maybe even do a clear, matte bra or something to make it more unique. When it comes down to it, it's still my dream car, just not the color I want it in.

The net cost is about the same before the financing, so the lower APR one will save me money in the long run, however money has never been a big deal to me. I'm not rich, but I'm not poor either, and I don't mind spending extra over the years to make sure I'm 100% happy with my purchase.

I'm wondering your guys thoughts? I'm really a 50/50 split here and don't know which to go with.

Easy, blue one.

Look at you trying to sell yourself on the black one. You're never going to be happy with that car no matter how much more sense it makes on paper.

Black. New. Full warranty.

I bet with a little leg work you can find an equally good deal on the financing. Get the car you want, not almost what you want...

Am I that transparent? Hahaha

Also, for the first time today, an hour after that post, I see a Blue Pearl BRZ driving down the strip. It almost feels like a sign. Such a beautiful color car...

I'll never own another black car as a DD. Too hard to keep looking perfect.

No, it just sounds EXACTLY like a similar quandary I had when I switched my color from WR blue to white when i saw the dealer's white one. After a week of trying to justify the white I just came to terms with the fact that blue is the color for me. I had to change my order which will delay delivery of my car, but I immediately felt relieved.

Most of what you wrote suggests that you really only want the WRB one. I'd go for it.

No 14's or 15's in a desirable color where you are?

N_A 01-01-2015 09:25 PM

Get the blue one. Or find another WRB one. Don't get the color you don't really want. I love my black FRS. But every time I see an Ultramarine or the Ignition Silver, I feel like I should've waited to get the color I really want.

I thought about black. I thought a black car with black rims would look nice and sinister. I owned a black car before, though, and I remember what a bitch it is to keep a black car clean. Never again.

Blue one, it is like marry the women you truly loved, even though she had a bit history.

gravitylover 01-01-2015 09:46 PM

Keep searching. There IS a blue one available and it will be new or at least newer and the price will be so close to the same the distance from you won't matter.
