Anyone going to the SCCA at Atlanta Motorsports Park this weekend?

I saw this event in another thread and was curious if anyone was planning on attending from the forums.

I was thinking of driving up to watch it, but having never been to an event wasn't sure that let spectators in. A note to the posted email address has gotten no response.

I had considered signing up for the rookie clinic but its in the afternoon and I can only go for the morning.

I'd be interested in going if 1) they allow spectators and 2) others from here are heading up or participating in the event.

Hello, anyone? Is this thing on?

Well, got a reply from the event manager saying it was a "non-spectator" event, so I guess I'm out. Not allowing someone who expressed an interest in observing to determine if he wants to attend as a participant at a later event seems like a poor way to promote a sport, but oh well.

That does seem strange. I know the NASA events I go to I am allowed to bring friends or family members with me. Perhaps find someone who is going and see if you can tag along. I will be racing at AMP with NASA later this year, and you can tag along if you want. :D

Thanks. Let me know the dates, I might take you up on that.

AMP is a private country club. They could care less about spectators.

Yea, I get that, but it wasn't AMP I was asking, it was the group organizing the autocross. You didn't have to be a member to participate, I could have signed up for the rookie class.

No big deal really, just thought it was odd for an organization that is supposed to be grass-roots not to want to plant a seed.

I went to the autox with my 350z this past weekend. Don't listen to people hating on AMP. You didn't have to be a member there for the autox. It was an awesome event with cool elevation changes for autox.

Sounds like the SCCA has already cancelled events there, and I won't be able to race there with my SpecE30 due to the noise restrictions. It basically sounds like a track for rich people with cars with OEM exhausts.

If you showed up at the track and signed the waiver as guest after telling them you were there for the SCCA event I am 100% sure you could have driven in with no issues.

Alpharetta/Atlanta guys, I'd love to meet up with you when you get a chance, I always love meeting fellow enthusiasts. Dadhawk, hit me up if you run into more events like this one, I'm down with enough notice. And I hit up the Dragon's tail twice a year, next trip is October most likely, let me know if you or anyone else is interested, I don't care what car they bring.
