Kartboy short shifter noise

Had a kartboy short shifter installed ( don't give me crap, I have no mechanical skills) by a reputable shop.

There is some noise in the gearbox now, is that normal?

I believe rattling is a common issue with the kartboy. The only reason I haven't messed with my shifter .

so far so good with mine. 8k miles of use.

Describe the noise. I have rattles and a resonance above 4k rpm but it doesn't really bother me one bit.

rattle

I just installed one in my car and had the rattle. I called KartBoy and they told me to make sure that the ball socket had alot of grease and to install the 2 o-rings that come with the shifter onto the pivot shaft on the shifter arm from the tranny. I was only able to install one o-ring but that eliminated most of the rattle. Then I added a heavier shift knob and that got rid of the remaining noise. It also helped with the shifting. I can almost guarantee that the o-rings were not installed. Good luck!

Thanks- I will check that out asap.
The noise is not horrible, but if it doesn't have to be there, I will eradicate it.

Try this: Remove your shift knob. This will expose a screw with an allen head where the threads to screw the shift knob is. Remove screw with an allen key. Remove the spring for the reverse lockout from inside the shaft. Apply grease to the spring and use a syringe to inject grease into the shaft. Insert spring, screw in the allen screw, screw in shift knob. This eliminated all rattles at any rpm for my kartboy ss. Note: After you're done, pump the reverse lockout a few times. Wipe excess grease that will come out from two holes each located on the front and back of the lockout.

Mystery solved

Turns out the noise is related to my new ACT HDSS clutch and Flywheel. The noise is normal. It's not a bad noise, just a new noise... kind of like a faint rattle. Since the turbo, headers and turbo back 3" exhaust were installed, there is a symphony of new noises. It is def loud as shit, pretty damn aggressive. All good.

If you're asking for help with an issue you should really include the other mods that were done to the car. It's a waste of time if you only mention one mod when you have made other significant mods.
