Need to upgrade the oil pan for the FRS/BRZ?
This will be my first Subaru engine i've owned and I know for the Honda crowd upgrading to a baffled oil pan is one of the first things to do for track use. Does this apply to Subaru engines as well? I'm not even sure if they come with the same type of oil pans..

Yeah, Cosworth has one(for the WRX/STi). Never used it though.

Killer B Motorsports also makes oil pans, baffles, and pick up tubes for the subarus. Wonder if they will have any for the BRZ/FR-S

Killer B does have some cool stuff. They make a really nice oil pickup, that replaces the OEM part that is known to fail.
But the good thing is this new engine is constructed like the older H6 engines where the lower half of the engine has a built in baffle. And it looks more baffled that those older engines. http://blog.perrinperformance.com/wp...e1-550x330.jpg That flat baffles goes right in the middle. Very nice! |
In the end its really about how fast around the track you plan on going. We'll be working on a dry sump like we did for our time attack sti. No amount of oil pan baffling will help when all the oil is trapped in the heads due to extreme grip. This is one major downside to the boxer motor.

Does anyone have any feedback on the Moroso baffle kit?
