Trunk Release Opener not working (wireless key or physical key)
I found the trunk release would not work from dash button, trunk button or wireless key. I took it to the dealer who found the trunk release disable button depressed. Apparently an umbrella tip is the perfect height to press the button if pointed toward the driver side 90 degrees to the rear wheel.
If this occurs save yourself some trouble. Crawl through the split seat and check the button at the bottom driver side of the trunk deck. Trunk release disable is out, trunk release enable is in. I'm not sure which models this applies to, in this case it is a 2013 BRZ Limited. |
Yeah. They definitely should have thought through the placement of that button a bit better.
As an alternative to crawling in, there is a key hole above the rear license plate, next to the license plate light (you insert the key upwards). If you have push button start, there is a little button on the side of your key fob that releases a key that can be used for opening the trunk or doors. |
My 2015 FRS has the button on the left side of the trunk. Scion sales rep told me about the trunk button.

there is a spot for the key to go into the trunk to open it that way as well
on my '14 where the license plate lights are, right to the right of them is where you can put the key into the trunk and unlock it |
