Hood Dampers

I recently purchased the Rexpeed Carbon hood dampers from FT-86 Speed Factory (http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/rexp...mpers-656.html). Initially I was not impressed by the quality of them but I decided to put them on just to see what they looked like. The instruction manual was terrible (not that the installation was difficult) and appeared to be for a Ford Fiesta. After the installation was complete they seemed very stiff and notchy. After I opened and closed the hood a few times I heard a terrible breaking sound. I discovered that one of the ball joint housings on the dampers broke. I took them off and plan to return them asap. In the meantime I am looking for a decent set of hood dampers. Can anybody recommend some? I'm trying to stay around the $100 range but that may not be possible. Thanks guys.

I have grimmspeed and am VERY happy with them

I second the Grimmspeed hood struts recommendation. They're very sturdy and designed with our cars in mind, not just a generic one sized fits all.

Agree with the GrimmSpeed hood struts. Look very much like factory installed equipment.

I bought these cheap ebay ones when they first came out. Now the prices have shot up for some reason, but mine came out to $35. They work flawlessly and even hold the hood up anywhere in the full range, not just at the top. They have adjustable bolt points so you can pick how far the hood opens. I think this was the seller? http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-13-Scion-...17bbaa&vxp=mtr

Thanks for the suggestions. I went with the GrimmSpeed's. I installed them yesterday and am very pleased.

GrimmSpeed's the way to go, they do their R&D right and specifically for our cars.
