Snowkhana - will there be one for 2015?

Not sure if you guys flip through your Subaru magazines (for the BRZ guys) but I came across a mention of a Toronto Subaru Club and a Snowkhana event.
Supposedly they use an abandoned airstrip in Northern Ontario (Deerhurst) and turn it into a course.

Anybody know if they're doing one for 2015?

Seems kinda cool...

Huntsville is hardly Northern Ontario, but I guess anything North of Toronto is considered Northern Ontario to people from Toronto :P

Seems like a neat event though, but I wouldn't risk taking my FR-S on the highways during winter to get there

I'm actually aching for a snow drive...
So far the BRZ has been a fantastic winter performer (with snow tires).

And yes, Toronto is the centre of Canada (if not the universe).
The Maple Leafs are the best sports franchise ever.
The TTC is an efficient and elegant way to get around town.

according to spda fb page there should be one in feb or march

"The theme for 2015 is to get back to grass roots, and help the community grow, focus on new blood in many disciplines. Our contingency program will focus on incentives associated with helping newcomers to the sport so they can join us in what we do, and hopefully select a discipline to jump into, therefore increasing the new crop of competitors to sanctioned legal motorsports and doing our part in reducing aggressive driving on the public streets. Exercise the skills where it's legal, at the race tracks, at sanctioned motorsports events, or local motorsports events.
The support schedule will be fairly intense this year:
February / March: Snokhana
April: Advanced Driving Clinic
May: Charity event at DDT with TSC
June / July / August: Beginner friendly track days
July Mosport Time Attack & Race School
And of course, Rallies rallies rallies in October (NWMR / SNATR)
We look forward to a fun year for veterans, and a welcoming year for newcomers. Please stay tuned for the new contingency program. We need lots of help in 2015.
Thank You"

i'm thinking of doing it........maybe

It's definitely on the SPDA radar (to be partnered with TSC), just waiting on a date now.

I went to the very first one back in '11 (I believe it was the first) when I bought my STi, cruising up there wasnt that bad. had a really good time, met great people and I even won the best prize for raffle lol. hate the cold but I enjoyed it.

I'm a maybe. Most of my weekends are tied up with coaching ski racing, but if I happen to have the time off then I'll be going for sure.

I haven't done it before, but it looks like a blast.

ohh, snokahana is a completely different animal.

Chances are you won't go off into the weeds because you simply won't carry that much speed and the snow banks will stop you. I don't think they'll run it if it's super dry out (that would just kill tires)

here's a vid from Val (the guy who runs the yellow BMW)

ima try and come out if they organize again this year, I've been missing out for two years now!

I did it the first year it came out and had a blast in 2013.

Then I started ice racing in 2014, and made it out to snowkhana and was disappointed at the track time :(

But for the first timer or non-ice racer, snowkhana is an experience that is totally worth it. Spots fill up fast so if/when they come out this year, sign up quickly.
