[DIY] How To Repin USDM TOM's for EUDM cars
Hey guys,
I was unable to find ANY information about repinning of USDM TOM's Tail Lights for an EUDM car on the internet. Since the pins are differenty used in EUDM cars, the Tail Lights will not work correctly if you just install them without repinning them first. The turning signals and the breaking lights etc. are all messed up. The fastest and easiest way is to repin the plug that can be found on the back of the tail lights. This is how it looks for USDM: http://i.imgur.com/fMKwXXv.jpg You need to switch the RED and WHITE wires. Result: http://i.imgur.com/9Istkik.jpg Install and BAM - working on EUDM. pr0xy |
Just curious, what are the actual (law) differences between USDM and EUDM regarding taillights?

Why would you do this when EU requires amber turn signals?

As for Swiss law, we are required to either have a E1 or a DOT SAE approval stamp on the lamps. Since TOM's come in handy with the DOT SAE approval, I went for those. Running with no approval was not an option. TOM's with E1 approval were not available at that time. In Germany and some other countries in Europe, the regulations are similar or the same as in Switzerland. |
