Anyone DD 200 Treadwear Tires?
 

I'm wondering how all the autocross tires hold up to the daily routine. I realize they'll probably need to be replaced every season, so I'm looking to find out how the grip tapers off. I'm undecided on what brand I'm going with so feel free to share your experience with whatever tire you've run.

Ran Dunlop ZI on my cobalt turbo a few years ago. Got two seasons out of them, didn't use them in the winter though for obvious reasons. By the end of the 2nd season they were a bit slidy in the rain but still good in the dry.

Ran ZII on my mx5 with no issues but it's wasn't my dd

I've daily driven 200 tread wear tires on my BRZ for the past year and a half with no issues. I've ran ZII, R-S3v1& currently R-S3v2 tires. However, I live in Las Vegas so we only get 3 seasons.

I get 10-15k km out of Z1s and Z11s with lots of aggression.

I had rivals on the car for just over a year. Down to about 2/32. Lots of autocross's on them. Hoped for more. Gone to ZII StarSpec's,see how they do.
Don't want to get into changing wheels at the events. PITA

I drive quite a lot, got almost two full summers out of ZII's (with lots of track/autox). My car has 88k km's on it since July 2012.

Sounds like a lot of the tread wear ratings are under rated, for high performance tires:

I had the nankang ns2r tires at the beginning of the season. They were 120 treadwear which was stupidly soft. I did 4 multi hour lapping days, 2 autox events and finally killed them off with some drifting attempts. They lasted approx 8000km for me. But tbh its all in how you drive the car on the road where you spend the majority of the time! I've seen ad08s hit 30000km and PSSs only last 15000 :p

You're technology is pretty cool right now. A lot of those 200 treadwear tires are totally fine for dd. I mean, as long as you don't need all weather tires. They last plenty and really make things crisp. I'm not sure I would ever but anything higher rated here in socal. Rs3 for bigger cars (frs) and rivals probably for a miata

I DD Z2s for about 10000 miles so far and have at least another 5000 to go. I like them. Tried PSS and ended up sending them back to Tirerack. They really felt like driving on marshmallows after Z2s. 😦

I've left my z2 and rivals on for weeks at a time when feeling lazy. I don't mind the extra wear since really they'll heat cycle out before wearing out.

But compared to something like a mpss or the like they dd like shit. Noisy, harsh, can't actually utilize the extra grip on legal roads, worse in the rain.

Personally I don't dding them on that basis alone.

We have 250-300 ish runs on our z2 and I'm still dding them. Theres no shoulder left since we run aggressive toe, and I have to do 10 under the limit when it rains, but there is still tread haha

I run the Bridgestone RE11As for about 7 months a year. As most people mentioned, you can daily on these UHP type tires but is a compromise. You will have a stiffer ride that is acceptable in the rain but dangerous in winter conditions. Also, these tires will pickup every single little pebble on the road and you will hear them hitting the wheel wells. Last, you won't be able to fully exploit the performance of the tires on any public roads unless you live near the mountains. Doable yes, recommended, probably not.

I run the ZII's daily. They are pretty hard wearing and have plenty of tread left after ~7 or 8 track days and a year of street driving. They are *loud* though. And have a slight milage hit vs. harder tires. No traction under about 40F too.
