I was mostly pointing out this dyno probably reads high without really saying so. Which would make these gains less than the people putting down 160ish stock baseline and after tune and header putting down close to 200 (same dyno of course). |
Not that this matters honestly, This is on the same dyno and the conditions are the same between the two runs.
The Dyno numbers were verified to be on par with that up in drift office as I got a couple of runs there. |
And others typically dyno at the expected 160 level... I, for one, am impressed.

Different headers will provide different VE profiles. And these VE profiles will benefit from very specific VVT mapping. After all the testing we have done, we have gotten to the point where we can quite successfully map the VVT tables after just one dyno run to see where the torque dips and peaks are. This can also be done through custom e-tuning by look at engine load and MAF logs. But offering an optimized OTS tune for any untested header is impossible. I have a good example of this from a custom dyno tuning job I did last week on a catted UEL header. Despite being UEL, it required some pretty significant mapping changes from the UEL OTS map. Later this week I'll make a thread outlining the changes I made and why I made them. Cheers, shiv |
Drove down and met up with Vit of VitTuned in Albany today.
Got to drive his 2015 FRS car with similar mods ( hks front pipe, perrin over pipe and perrin 3 inch exhuast, intake and header the same as well as his own flex fuel kit and tune) and man his car was buttery smooth. Got to try out flat foot shifting, auto blip and launch control, very cool! We then did some driving around and logging my car and spent a good two hours going over it and him just educating me on what these cars are about and what the logs meant and what the ignition timing maps do, compared them to his own car's and other customer's cars maps look like and where mine was, what the exhuast and intake cam timing maps do and how he sets his IAM and ignition advance maps, his tuning methodology and how he does part throttle tuning and how Dyna pack helps in giving him more granular control over the tune. End of the day, I came away learning more about our cars today than I have since owning it. Here is Vit Tuned final NA results on his own personal 2015 FRS with the skunk2 header, intake, perrin overripe, HKS front pipe , 3inch perrin resonated catback and E85. The gains going from car with header, intake and E85 tune with stock overripe, front pipe and catback to the aftermarket header back system is pretty impressive. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.n...75246729_o.png And this is a comparison between his bone stock to current.. That's some massive gains all the way from 1500 Rpm!!! This header is the real deal. Just need the right tune. https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...14987420_o.png |
Hey all, had my Header Skunk installed about 4 days ago and I truly love it. Feels like there is virtually no Dip at 4k rpm and I am very happy with the extra power at the high end. Throttle response is noticeably better. 3" Perrin MAF CAI en route and Vishnu tune being ordered very soon

Just installed the Skunk2 header along with OFT Stage 2 EL. Have a GReddy CAI and GReddy SP Elite axleback, stock OP, FP and MP. Runs better than ever. Curious though should I consider loading the UEL tune based on the discussion in this thread? Anyone else doing this?

Hey we have a used Skunk2 header was on for about 3-4 months tops maybe 2-3K miles
We only used it for testing Ill put it out there here first - we will sell it for $250.00 and include new grimspeed gaskets - message us for photos or a quote to see if we can ship it for that price :) |

I've got the kraftwerk C30 Kit with the skunk2 header. I don't like the sound, I'm actually tempted to switch to an UEL header even if it means lost gains. Did you end up switching? Do you have a sound clip with your tomei? If you switched, were there noticeable gains? Thanks in advance! |
