Yeah they did. Why?

was the before dyno run stock tune ? as it seems pretty high for a stock car on stock tune usually they are around 170-175 stock

although looking at the afr and the torque curve it look like stock tune.

what would concern me is that your torque curve and power gain over stock is pretty low considering you added header custom dyno tune and front pipe overpipe combo.

either the dyno was set up optimisticly for the stock run and then correctly for modded run or something.

the modded run power seems pretty ok, but the gain over stock for those mods is low, something seems off, torque dip gains seem low as well.

Hi,

Yeah, That was the first run before tuning to get a baseline.

Here's the full stock baseline run from a couple weeks ago. Very similar conditions, just not as humid on the day of the custom tune.

I would agree, there is something not right about the tune. Will be taking the car back on wednesday.

Here's my sound clip.
BRZ/FRS Magnaflow Exhaust Skunk2 EL Header:

I think there's something wonky going on with Sachu's car. If I'm following everything correctly, he put down 180 stock, then 184 with his exhaust & a tune, then did 183.5 with the header, and 193 with the header and a retune.
Not that 193 for a header, exhaust & tune is bad, especially considering how rich his car is running.
I think he should make the drive up to Drift Office and let Bob work his magic.

sachu 02-03-2015 02:37 PM

180~181 stock
184 with drop in air filter
183.5 with drop in air filter, header and op/fp
193 with the above mods and brzedit tune.

The clip sounds good man...although a drive by or a mic setup 20 feet back is more representative of the sound of the exhuast i feel

So here's my review.
Fteightysix had a Black Friday special when it just had become a preorder. I did the preorder and about a week later got word the first batch of headers we're going out directly from Skunk 2. I received it was kind of polished but dull I guess being a first batch and all but nothing mothers Polish couldn't fix. So I had it professionally installed and it went it pretty easy all though had a little exhaust leak. Tweaked one of the bolts connecting the header to the motor and it was gone. So when I intially started sounded deep and mean loved it. Drove off and hear a rasp at 3k-5k then it gets fainter. Could be my exhaust which is a Takeda catback. Trying out a front pipe to see if that could help but will get to the bottom of the rasp.

So all I gotta say is felt a difference in power was kind of sluggish at first but was a new header then it opened up and I felt the power difference. A week later I ordered the open flash tablet and did a stage 2 tune and drove off and felt nothing but happiness and joy. So bottom line header is amazing definetly awesome craftsmanship and best bang for the buck on an EL header. I would definetly recommend it.

For all those that want sound clips will get you guys some soon just waiting for the snow to melt here in Long Island, Ny.
Hope this helps

Ugh I need an OFT... and some coil overs... and some wheels... and... and... and...

sachu 02-04-2015 03:21 PM

I just want my car to run correctly in the useable 2k-5k range lols

Hoping a retune will fix this. Dropping her off tonight.

Here's pulls with the skunk2 header, nameless FP/OP, Perrin 2.5 resonated catback, drop in perrin air filter.

I was putting down 183.5 on the stock tune with the above setup. (Not shown)

@KoolBRZ was nice enough to volunteer his time and Open FLash Tablet to run some tests to see what was up with my BRZEdit tune.

I did a test drive before the dyno runs and I immidiately knew the torque dip was definitely less noticeable.

THe dyno results speak for themselves.

First two runs are with Stage 2 UEL.
Last two are with Stage 2 EL.

The UEL is a richer tune, the EL is a leaner tune. The UEL makes more power and has more torque in the dip area.

There was also some rasp in the EL tune. The UEL tune sounded eargasmic.

I am surprised a bit by the gains in peak HP though. Not as big as I was thinking even with the OFT tune.

I was on that "test drive" with Sachu. I can vouch for it being stronger on the OFT stage 2 UEL. We ran out of road/room at least 20 times. If my hair wasn't already blonde, it would have turned white. It accelerated with no hesitation whatsoever, and I've had a turbo in my BRZ. I couldn't detect a bit of torque dip at all as a passenger. I couldn't believe how much grip he had with stock tires. I was constantly bracing for slides that never happened. I particularly noticed a 3rd gear rev from 3000 to 5200 rpms that rocketed up to 60MPH with no lapse, falter, or even the slightest hesitation, and this is with a freshly loaded tune. No time for adaptation, nothing but load and go.
The manual version of these cars is definitely a whole nuther beast. Driving a car like that in stop and go traffic however, would be inviting a road rage meltdown. I'll stick to my auto for now, but after I retire...

Hyper4mance2k 02-10-2015 01:32 PM

Pretty shocking that the UEL tune made more power on an EL header. I was going to try to pick up an OFT, but now this just makes me want to skip it all together.

Was it re-tuned after the header, or still running the original tune?

It's not shocking at all. It's to be expected that @shiv would do a lot more work refining the UEL tune, since that was the tune used by Shiv everyday, while driving his car with a UEL OFH installed. This tune is designed to get the most from an unequal length header, to promote the header that they sell for the FT86 cars. So it makes sense that it would be the best running tune. What people don't realize, is that it is a better tune for EL headers also. This is a reason to BUY the OFT. To get that amazing stage 2 UEL tune.

Just because it's EcuTek doesn't mean it was re-tuned after the header... it just says it was tuned, doesn't say if it was re-tuned to optimize the tune for the header.
