The 5 year plan; Bianca's transformation...
I almost NEVER know where to start with threads like this. I have been very much involved with bulletin boards and forums alike for what seems like an eternity. Each vehicle I have owned has had a build thread, at a minimum.
I'm planning to be a bit different this time around. The sub-section here is VERY fitting, and I actually kick myself for not thinking to have named several sub-sections I had built over the years in different forums this exact name. Car Journals! It's perfect. Spot on. Presenting: 2015 Subaru BRZ Series.Blue: Bianca http://i.imgur.com/W29CMZK.jpg I told myself from DAY 1 of the LEAKED images of the then-new FR platform from Toyobaru, that I would own one. Fast forward to 2014, and I heard about the above limited edition Series.Blue being released in limited quantities. The search was on, and I found one local to me and bought it the very same day I located it. I'm far from new to Scoobs in general, and VERY far from new to building things to make them mine. Bianca is vehicle #9 for me in the last 6 years. None of my previous vehicles in this span of time have been damaged/wrecked. They were all sold and/or traded up for different vehicles, pretty much due to boredom. At any rate, I thought I may as well start a running log of things done, and things to do. Formatting will be off for the time being, but I'll have it cleaned up eventually :) In no specific order:
Done to date:
So, you're probably wondering why it's titled the 5 year plan? It's due to an impending Permanent Change of Station (PCS) to South Korea. I am a federal employee for the Dept. of Army, and I have been asked if I would go to Seoul for 3-5 years to be a supervisor for a team of folks we have there. I have been where I currently am since 2008, so it's TIME TO GO! I jumped at the opportunity to take my family to far away places; experience they can't obtain by reading about it in a book. Uncle Sam only provides funding to ship one personally owned vehicle overseas, so we have elected to take the wife's Legacy (four obvious reasons) and leave the BRZ behind at my mother's house in VA. The BRZ will be put into the garage next to my 1950 Studebaker 4 door. She'll be driven, albeit not-so-frequently. When we arrive stateside for our first home-leave trip, I plan to take her to my buddy's shop in PA and drop her off to have some work done. Normally, I would elect to do the work myself from start to finish. Unfortunately, time is not on my side, and I would rather have the work professionally done by someone that has vested interest (getting paid for the work) in making it look right and function well. Things will be accumulated over the course of 3-5 years until I decide I am ready for her to go under the knife and come out a different woman. Being VERY close to Japan (and having Official Mail capability) provides enough excuse to have some JDM only goodness sent home to be used on the car. :) So that's it in a nutshell. |
