How's the shifting of MT compared to other cars
I'm new to driving MT so please gimme some ideas about your experience on driving manual. I got a MT frs and sometime the shifting is not smooth but sometime it is.:iono:

I just got mine today and coming from an 08 Si, I feel it's smooth. I'm not quite used to the rather short throw and often feel myself fumbling to find the first two gears but it feels solid and smooth. Still not used to how low it revs in certain gears while not lugging either.

This is my first MT car also. I find it more easy to drive than the old hondas/ acuras I have tried.

There was a dedicated staff just for the transmission on this car, and folks from Subaru, Toyota, and Aisin spent many months perfecting the feel of the shift lever.
Personally, from my drives of the PP cars and production cars in MT, the shifter feels solid, but light, precise and accurate, and well stroked at the lever in both motion angles and lever travel. Of course the ideal position on the floor console is dependent on the driver's size and body dimensions, but overall, I think it is one of the slickest shifting boxes in production cars today. |
I absolutely love it. Much better than the Borg Warner T5 that I had to learn on when I was 16. :)

I've been driving a stick since I was 16 (I'm 29 now) and this is by far, once of the best shifting cars I have ever driven. Only thing I would say comes close was driving my friends RSX. My SRT-4 Neon had a similar throw and the placement was better, but it didn't even come close on feeling and ease of shifts.

I love the shifter but the clutch is to soft :<

If a BMW shifter is a 10/10 (which i think it is, i get excited to change gears) how would the FRS/GT86/BRZ compare /10???
|
Anyone have any experience coming from an S2000?
|
I agree as well. The clutch on the BRZ is soft as well and the catch point is too high up. I hope there's a way to adjust this without going aftermarket.

If the clutch stiffness bothers you, put in an aftermarket clutch...I don't blame toyo/subie for putting in a soft clutch... |
