What happened today made my day. I really like my car.

Story time, everyone.

After I parked my car I started to go up the stairs to a cafe. As always, I looked back at my car for no special reasons. Then I noticed a boy standing awkwardly next to my car. His mom had his phone and she was taking photos of the boy standing next to my car. His mom told him to do different pose and stand in different places.

When I thought they were done taking photos, I ran down to my car. I called the boy and said "Hey~ Do you like this car?" He answered quietly, "ye.. it's my favorite". His mom agreed.

So I offered, "Do you want to sit in it?" He smiled really big and say yes. So I opened the door and let him seat in the driver's seat. I took a photo with his phone, which he posted straight on to his Instagram.

When he got out, I told him, "Stay in school and study hard, then you can get a car much nicer than this one." Then the mom gave me an approving nod.

I really like my car, but there were times I thought I made a financial mistake of getting a too good of a car.

But what happened today made it all worth it.

I'm sure I made that boy's day. But he probably doesn't know he made my day too.

Great story....why is it so much better when a young kid likes our cars, compared to an older guy?

Nothing cooler than this 10 year old kid in the neighborhood who compliments my car, better than any other compliment I have received.

Stories like this give me hope for the next generation of car enthusiasts.

Dadhawk 12-16-2014 10:45 AM

Props to @wrb for sharing the love!

Doesn't happen much now that they are more common, but when I first got mine back in May, 2012 anyone that expressed admiration I would always offer to let sit in it, or look inside if they were interested in doing so, young and old alike. It's always great to see the reaction because no one ever expects you to do that.

There were probably a couple dozen people that took me up on that offer the first two months I had the car.

That is one of the greatest things i've heard. I wish more people were like this with their cars!

Some people I see that have nice cars are mostly rude. It's times like this that I am glad to be such a car enthusiast with the rest of y'all!

Speed2th 12-17-2014 12:59 AM

maybe his dream was to be an import model

funwheeldrive 12-17-2014 01:26 AM

I've had schoolage kids give me compliments while driving around town. I think it's cool how many people love this car, regardless of age. I think it's partially because of the size. You rarely see new cars that are the size of the 86 twins. People are so used to seeing Camaros and Mustangs which are huge in comparison.

Defuser 12-17-2014 01:02 PM

You should have asked him what it's like to work with the rest of the cast of Modern Family.

Particularly having Sofia Vergara play his mom...but I digress. Good job OP!

BRZZZZZZZZZZ 12-17-2014 02:25 PM

That's pretty cool and kind of you too. My dad takes his Caterham to a lot of car shows up here and we let anyone who wants to sit in it as long as they fit, we have probably had over 500 different people sit in it over the last few years.
