Toyota of Olympia - Service Problem (Resolved)

Beware this shop (service department). My visit today was bad from the minute I dropped off my FRS for an appointment...to the minute I picked up the vehicle.

Short version... some dufus porter named Ken gets in my face right when I drop off the car... telling me, "You're in the wrong lane... you need to be over there..." (Express Lube lane). I've never had to do this before (3 prior visits --and there was NO ONE directing in-bound cars as to what lane to get in to. I tried to explain this nicely to Ken.. but he was on 1-track... I was in the wrong lane. Wow.

When I made the appointment, I specifically asked them to replace the Cabin Air Filter since they opted to not do it at the 15K Service. They didn't do it... and the Service Writer (i.e., Express Lube Guy) stood there and adamantly told me (multiple times...), "NO Scion has a Cabin Air Filter..." "You must be referring to the Air Filter..." Wow again. Really? Do I need to break out the Owner's Manual and the Maintenance Booklet from the car? Well, I decided not to press the point right then and there.. but when I got back to my office, I made copies of the pertinent pages in both booklets (manuals) and placed a call to the dealership's General Manager.

We are going to have a little talk...

BTW.. I left a VM for the Service Manager this AM about "Ken" -- but haven't heard back from him yet.... 5 hours since my message.

Update...

The GM returned my call... we had a nice discussion. Both parts of my angst were explainable.

1) The porter should never have been in the "greeting area" and most definitely should not have been in a position to interact with me. Apologies offered... and accepted.

2) The Express Lube guy is very new and just didn't know (not a great excuse...) -- this will be addressed via training.

My office is a 5 minute walk to the dealership. They had a real Service Writer at my office in 5 minutes... and he has taken my car back so they can install the Cabin Air Filter.

Given this level of responsiveness and acknowledgement that they can do better at what they do, I'm willing to give them another shot at servicing the car. (Please... no "That's why I don't go to dealership" replies...)

Props to Toyota of Olympia for quickly addressing my concerns.

And.. while I'm typing this, my car is back. 15 minutes.
