Insurance on your FR-S?

Anyone have issues with getting insurance on your FR-S?

I stopped in at Nationwide today to remove the '11 tC and put on the FR-S... My rate jumped by over $350 every 6 months... which seems excessive since my record is clear and I'm not exactly a young pup anymore.

Anyway, additionally the VIN came up as a Subaru BRZ and she had to force it into the Scion FR-S class... and she said we'd have to wait a few days to let it "release" (let the actual insurance co review it??) to see if it's the correct rate...

Did anyone else have such issues?

Odd. My Insurance rate went down a little bit switching from the 2010 tC to the FR-S.

It wasn't in the system for them, either, they had to override it and manually put in the VIN and the vehicle specs.

I'm at 103/mo for mine. I have nationwide and she also had to manually plug in Scion FRS.

I'm 22, no accidents, one reckless when I was 16. I live in Virginia Beach. Pretty sure I get a discount for having my homeowners, and 05 Corolla XRS with them.

Might I ask what your coverages are? I'm @ 177.5/mo... but that's the 50k with 100/500 deductible, rental...etc...

This thread is worthless without age range/location.

I agree that's why I had originally posted my issue with it being read as a subaru and what my increase was.. not my actual rate. ie: how much up or down the rate changed + or - with only the car as the variable.

28 years old in SoCal and I pay 70 a month for full coverage through USAA.

I have 100/300/100 with a 100 comp deductible, 500 collision deductible, rental, and a mass plethora of discounts (good student, safe driver, accident free, homeowners, multi car)

Just a heads up to all of you that get a really low quote: your insurance company has the right to raise that rate at any time during your 6 month "contract" when they figure out it should have been more to begin with.

I told my ins co that I'd return when they can give me an actual number rather than a mystery contract that could double or triple(from Flo/Progressive). They didn't even offer me a Flo-job.

Calidrifter 06-06-2012 02:01 AM

So true ^^^ I might be changing to all state cause I might get a ton of discounts with my Gf.

We will probably be seeing more realistic numbers in a couple of months.
