Heated Seat Cycling
My heated seat doesn't seem to stay on when I put it on high, will operate for a couple minutes and then shuts off, it will turn back on about 5-10 minutes later. Is this normal? It has been this way since I bought the car new. In my wife's Mini I turn it on and it stays hot as long as the switch is flipped, no cycling on and off.

Doesn't sound normal. My seats get crazy hot and stay that way until I turn it off or lower.
mine seems to do the same as OP
Mine also does the same as OP. Wasnt sure if that was normal or not.
Pretty sure heated seats are supposed to cycle on and off so as not to burn you.
Normal.

I'll have to pay closer attention next time. I always end up having to put them on low or turn them off completely about 10 minutes into my morning commute.

Mine don't cycle either, stays on until I shut it off.

I drive 2+ hours for work regularly and I find that when you first turn them on they warm up nicely. Then later I will notice that they aren't nearly as warm anymore. At first I thought I was just getting acclimated to the heat, but it's not that. Without turning the seats off, I will notice the seats getting hot again.
I wonder if this is some "safety" programmed into controller to keep you from using them on high for too long? |
i dont have the brz but i have heated seats in my other car and the seats get crazy hot but they still cycle. i have to lower the temp inorder for them to be comfortable on long rides.
mine do the same thing, also they dont get nearly as warm as vw/audi seats
My seats stay on until I turn it down or off. The only thing heated in my car that cycles is the rear defroster.
I have never noticed mine cycling through, however I never put them on high either just low.
With that said in one of my other vehicles when the seat heater is on it does cycle every now and again. The dealer said it was a "safety feature".... |
