Continental Extreme Contact DW vs. MPSS?
I'm trying to make a decision on which tires I should get. Is the MPSS worth the extra money over the Continentals? Both tires have great reviews. I'm leaning towards the Continentals since they are about $150 cheaper on tirerack. This car is a DD.

The Michelin tires are better. Value is subjective, I feel that the $$$ is well spent on the Michelins. I run Michelin pilot super sports, but have run pilot sport A/S plus all seasons in the past. I liked them also. The A/S3 replaced the A/S+.

The Continental DW's last much longer, great wet traction, but probably not near as good dry traction as the Michelin's. Cost wise the Continentals are better for someone who wants a good daily driving summer tire year round. The PSS hands down are the best tire for performance, but just have a lower tread life.
I've had my DW's on for about 14k miles now and they still have tons of life left and I am a daily driver as well. |
Don't mean to threadjack but are the DW's leaps and bounds better than the stock Primacies? I am in the same boat as OP...can't decide if I want to get the MPSS or something slightly less expensive like the Contis or Bridgestones..

Thanks guys, I think i'm going to go with the Continentals then since it will ultimately save me money and the most i will do with the car any time soon is "spirited driving".

They are a great tire for what they are. 1 or 2 more mpg with these tires and if you just use them as a daily driving tire they'll last you over 30,000 miles easy. Thats a lot of $$ saved on gas. Definitely a great tire for their intended purpose. |

The car has consistently pulled .9ish on the skidpad in magazine tests with the stock tires. Cornering safety is not accurately measured by the ease of which you can break things loose off the line.
I'll concede great gains can be had in stopping distances in the dry. Cheers Nathan |
I have Continental DW's and I really dislike them. The dry and wet grip is better than stock, but they lost all the steering feel on turn in the car started with. It's terrible, and they have taken a lot of the enjoyment out of driving the car. Wish they were never recommended and that I went with the MPSS. I chose the DW's because they were cheaper, which was a mistake.

What size are you running if you don't mind me asking? |
Sorry to hear that about the Conti's.
I will be in the market at some point, as all seasons are my best choice. To be clear, it's the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's that have replaced the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, right? |
