That's quite the collection you've got there. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you don't just do this as a hobby, correct?

Is that a syringe of OptiCoat in that last pic?

I don't have a collection so I can't really contribute. I think I have 3 microfiber cloths, 2 foam applicator pads, and an assortment of Meguiar's products (Quik interior, liquid wax, ultimate compound, and some gold class wash shampoo, etc.)

Oh my wow. That is crazy.

86design 06-06-2012 02:20 AM

Yes, that's another OC2, I've got one sitting around, and now I have 2.
And don't be shy, you can take a picture of whatever you got, I'm sure no one here will judge, everybody started somewhere.

No need to throw that word around. We all love cars here. Some are just more dedicated towards one or several aspects around our hobby. It is called being passionate.
People spending hours upon hours upon hours perfecting their paint and making old look like new. Or even look better than new in some cases..

I have checked out detailer forums and seen amazing collections like this one. Im not a detailer. But I appreciate to see the effort some people put into their cars. And the money and time they put into finding products they like or that are best suited for a job or a type of paint..

Amazing collection CU2MIKE!

lol yeah there no need for that. I'm just more anal about how the paintwork should look. Plus I get a huge satisfaction out of my customer when they could not believe it's the same car

I have a strong appreciation for people who take pride in how their car looks. I usually go to monthly Eurosunday sports car enthusiast meets and am impressed with how many take exceptional care of their cars. But I've also been disappointed with some who don't even bother to wax their expensive Ferrari's. Although I am not a professional detailer I do spend a great deal of time caring for my 3 cars and have always gotten positive comments and people asking me to de tail their cars.:party0030:

That's actually how I got started 6 years ago! FRS I'm guessing has the infamous sticky, finicky paint because it is Subaru paint, and Subaru paint is famous for that. So I'll probably end up using a non diminshing abrasive, known as SMAT, to polish the car. This type of polish does not leave an oily residue so it'll be easier to wipe off while not marring the paint. I'll probably end up using M205 from Meguiar's or S17 from Scholl Concepts on a light polishing or even a finishing pad to clean up the paint, citrus based degreaser to clean up the polishing residue/oil, and apply opti coat to ensure proper bonding!

ayau 06-06-2012 01:39 PM

i finished detailing and opticoating my brz.

my steps were:

onr wash
