What the hell is that sound?

Ok so my car (FR-S) had been off for hours and I happen to be in the garage when I heard this weird sound out of nowhere. It seemed to have been coming from the rear wheels. The video I attached was recorded from the rear passenger side tire. It went on for like 5 or so minutes. It featured that constant mumming sound with thumps like every other second. Which was followed by that ugly sound as I started recording.

Does anybody have any clue what that sound could be? It happened out of nowhere when the car had been shut off for hours.

I'm running BC BR coilovers but I'm not sure if that was the source of the sound.
Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Evap system most likely perfectly normal

Time to read the Owner's Manual.

The final words in the clip pretty much sum it up! NEVER heard that shit or else I would have been posting to ask the Manual Readers (Y'all are a small minority you know? ) What the HELL was that?

Probably would have gone straight to the net looking for an Exorcist long before it would have occurred to me that it was a normal function that might be covered in the owners manual. Where would you start looking? I mean, seriously, is there a section in the index titled: "Possessed Sounds Coming From Rear Wheel-well"? If so, I am certain it will also cover the crickets, no?

People who read car manuals remind me of the guys who know where all the Easter eggs are in a video game the day after it comes out. Cool, but kinda freaky.:D

I remember this sound popping up earlier in this cars life in 2013 the first ones came out a lot of people freaked out because a guy with a BR-Z in a garage heard this sound. It took at least 30 posts before a mechanic actually commented saying it was a normal evap test

What he said is my bet. I've heard similar noises occasionally on this and other cars. Probably your car farting some hydrocarbons from tank or equalizing the pressure in the system. Relax unless it goes on for hours.

Picture OP crawling under the car for hours like a fool waiting to record the sound.

Great now I have that picture as well!
At least OP was good enough to provide a clip right from the start.

Nothing pisses me off more than the guys that post "I keep hearing a squeak in my car. What is it?"
Oh wait... something does piss me off more! All the guys that answer based upon the total lack of info!!!
Oh wait again...the worst are the guys that post "me too" 6 months after the question was resolved!!!!!!

Wish I could delete some of these idiotic posts people write like "read the manual" or "picture OP crawling under the car like a fool". I mean where do I even start looking in the manual for something like this? Is there a section of it titled "odd sounds from rear wheel well"?

Well thank you for everybody who actually tried to help me out here. I really appreciate it. Luckily I had my phone within reach so I could start recording shortly after. So if it's just the evap system then the car should be fine. Thank goodness!!!!! Huge sigh of relief.

Well at least you didn't get the standard "it's a write off" or "I'll take off your hands" posts!
In fairness there is nothing wrong with saying to read the manual as it is in fact there (you just have to read the whole thing to find it) or a harmless joke after the issue has been resolved (made one or two myself).

I once heard a noise on my FRS after being off for hours, sounded like an afterkarmet fuel pump was runing. The car was completely stock, i turned it on and back off and it stopped. :iono:

Forget which car I had but it was one of the first ones with the electric cooling fans. Those damned fans would come on for no apparent reason even if the car was shut down for hours. Scared the crap outta me the first time it did it.
