red line
how will you guys feel about taking this car to redline? i drive a civic si now with an 8k rpm redline (but the limiter doesn't hit till 8200 rpm). and given honda's reputation and knowledge building high reving engines i felt completely comfortable taking it up to redline whenever i felt like it.
do you think the subaru engine will be able to handle the high revs? will you be nervous redlining it when you feel like driving spiritedly? |
I have redlined mine a few times with no worries. I'm sure they wouldn't set the redline at 7400 if it was going to blow doing it...

Toyota was involved in the development of this engine and they have built a ton of high revving engines. I wouldn't sweat it.

Being a Honda fan myself and this being my first Subaru, from my experience I feel I won't have any issue taking this car to redline once she's broken in! Feels VERY solid just like my Hondas!

IF they didnt believe/create this engine to be a high revver in mind then it would never have had its 7400RPM limiter.

just checking. the high revs are what honda is known for. i would take it over red line (but before limiter) on occasion because i KNEW it could handle it. this being a new engine from someone i don't typically asosciate with high revs, i was a bit worried.

I've had the nice little light blink at me a few times already.

Once I pass the break in I'll happily rev to redline. I hope it is engineered well because I am not afraid to use the full rev range (but my wallet may be). I bring my auto eco box to redline at least every other day and it made it to 110k miles without incident, I hope I can do the same with this car.
