So how does one get a custom license plate?
Since Im getting my car next month, I was wondering the process of getting a custom license plate.
In florida there is a way to do it at the DMV by paying some extra fees, but we have to use the stock designs they offer or some college plates (all ugly in my opinion). Does anyone have a clue if a solid colored license plate can be used as long as it is registered? btw, I'm hoping to use SPICY R for my license plate (6 letters and a space :D) |
Getting a custom plate doesn't mean you can just use whatever you want as the plate. All a vanity plate gets you is a combination of characters of your choosing - which then have to be approved. You still have to use one of the plate styles offered by the DMV.
You should use this site to check if the combination you want is available (apparently yours is) and then you're going to have to pick one of the plates they offer. https://services.flhsmv.gov/MVcheckPersonalPlate/ |
I see, so no solid colors for me. Oranges on my plate it is!

Up here its go to registry, check if idea taken, if not plonk down an exorbitant amount of money and write a statement on the meaning of the plate, and hope they approve it. If they don't collect part of your money back in the mail.
