2014 coilover for track use - name your winner
This year I believe many FRS went to the track, and I am curious to read what is your feedback on coilover setup.
I believe the top choices are: - Ohlins - KW V3 - KW CS - MCS but please add whichever setup you were running and conclusions. If possible indicate your camber setting, tire type and spring rates. |
JRZ
Tein SRC a small number of RS*R a small number of Ohlins R&T. Mix of 100-200TW tires, spring rates anywhere from 6k to 12k, with most cars in the 9-10k front and 10-12k rear. |

Does the fact that I've ordered AST 5200 in 2014 and they're expected 2015 count? 9k front 10k rear. |

Ohlins R&T with supplied spring rates
Lowered 20mm Camber -2.5F/-2.0R 235/40 17 ADO8Rs on 17x8" RPF1 wheels Changing to the Ohlins yielded improvements in lap times compared to a stock suspension with camber bolts. There is still some understeer with the supplied spring rates. To reduce it I have the 18mm Perrin rear sway bar; currently set to the soft. I also have the SPL rear LCA with the damper installed in the stiffer location which yields about 6% stiffer spring rates. I like this setup a lot. I can see in my data logs that I'm able to get on the power sooner out of corners. The quality of the dampers is top notch and the adjusters have really nice and solid clicks. I have them set to 15 from full firm for street and 5 from full firm on the track. Rides great on and off the track. Edit: I've also run this setup on stock wheels with 215 PSS tires and with 235/40 RE11s on the RPF1s. PSS tires are okay in a pinch but do start chunking a bit. RE11s are good but not as good as the AD08s. Next tire will likely be 235/40 RA1 or 215 R888 (a few pound lighter than 225/235 so might be the faster choice). |
