Is the HPFP chirp a serious problem?

I never got the fuel pump replaced, per the TSB. The question I have is does it indicate an actual physical problem with the HPFP, or is it just an annoyance. In other words, if I ignore it will it wear out prematurely?

bro..

Don't bother getting the HPFP replaced again. They all chirp eventually. There is no problem with the HPFP.

Edit: this topic has been discussed to death, and minimal searching would have answered your question. The chirps are here to stay.

I've been living with mine since 7/2012. No problems yet :X

My car made the noise since 500miles until 30k miles without any issues. Talk to your dealer. They'll replace the pump under tsb/warranty. My dealer said the part is "updated" to eliminate the noise. We'll see how it turns out...

Another one???? Your dealer is wrong. The new pumps make no difference. In Ontario they have even pulled the TSBs for them

Haha I don't know. I checked the part number from dealer paper and it's the one shown on revised tsb file. I wasn't following up that well with fuel pump noise from other guys, but if that part still makes the noise... then oh well.

where did you hear this load of bullshit. and believe me when i say, its a load of bullshit. HPFP are always noisy unless you put some short of noise shielding over them.

EVERY HPFP in EVERY Direct Injected car ever manufactured will make noise at some point in its life. Ours is just easier to hear since the car is a tin can.
