Is this suitable for our cars?

Im sure it'll be fine, since its 0W20. Ive never run Castrol though, maybe someone who has can chime in.

It states this...Exceeds the engine protection requirements of ILSAC GF-4.

Isn't the latest requirements GF-5? Not sure it will make any difference but maybe someone with more knowledge on oils can chime in...Dennis?

I can't speak for the quality of this particular grade of Castrol, But I know their 0W30 European formula (commonly referred to as GC, for German Castrol) is a highly regarded oil. For about the same money as the on sale price you posted, you can get Toyota's own (TGMO) 0W20 from your local dealer. Very good oil.

Yes, GF-5 is the latest. The web site may not be updated or either they're clearing out really old stock. My guess is that the web site isn't updated because I don't believe dexos1 was around during GF-4.

Can't speak about it yet as I just sent in my UOA for it. FWIW I had a terrific UOA on Mobil 1 and that can usually be found fairly cheap (not sure about Canada).

I was at Pepboys the other day andnoticed that GC is now 0w-40 acutally. Makes sense since everyone always claimed it ran closer to that spec anyway. Loved the stuff in my STI.

I have seen both grades (both labeled as European formula) side by side on the shelf. I didn't think to check the back of the bottle to see if the 0W40 is also made in Germany. I'm not sure if the '40 is a replacement for the '30, or in addition to it.

Any 0W-20 oil that is fully synthetic will "work" for our cars. Castrol Edge is pretty good stuff, though. Ran it on my old BMW for a decade.

Seems like its a replacement. The 0w30 wasnt made in Germany when I looked. Dont think it was US made but cant remember where exactly. Could be some places are still getting rid of old stock too

Belgium. According to the German definition of synthetic.

I stopped at the parts store today for a look-see. The 0W30 said Germany, and the 0W40 said Belgium. I think. Now @viscositosis.rex has me second guessing that...

You are no doubt correct sir. I coulda swore I've seen 0W30 black bottle Edge that said made in Belgium. Different batches/dates of manufacture? It is ester-unless it says New Jersey.

OP, I currently use black bottle Edge 0W20 (formerly Syntec) and it runs quiet. The color of the oil darkens sooner than others FWIW. Next up: black bottle Titanium. I expect it to be even more quiet. Kendall was very quiet.
