Just drove my brz MT limited 1400 miles in 2 days (mpg results)

Hey all. Just completed my trip from Chicago to Florida. My car is dirty and the front is littered with bugs. Need to get it washed but I literally just got off the road. Here are the stats of my journey

Car: BRZ MT Limited DGM
From: Chicago
To: Miami
Miles: 1450
Hours: 24

MPG: 35.9
Note about the mpg. This trip was during my break in period so I was babying it a bit. Averaged about 74 mph for the trip. HOWEVER, my trunk and back seat was also packed with luggage. If the car was empty I believe the mpg would be higher

Overall the car felt great.

Issues with car after long trip:
My back actually hurts from these seats. There like is nearly zero amount of lumbar support. I kept feeling like my back was sore through the trip

Also the sound quality of the stereo is a bit off. I really need to sit down one day and play with the eq settings. Its hard to do while driving

Overall though, it was awesome.

You got almost 36 mpg on a MT? That's fantastic! Better than the AT hwy rating. I'm very happy to hear that.

I'm still working on my first tank.. I'm at 344 miles with the needle just a little above E.. My trip computer says 29.1.. mix of city/hwy. Wow.. over 35 hwy.. that's just excellent!

Yep. It was all highway driving however. I also forgot to mention that my friend drove down with me so that's ~36mpg WITH a trunk and backseat filled with heavy boxes and a passenger and driver of normal size

My back was really hurting at first...reclining the seat one more click really did the trick for me. Might be worth a shot.

The initial EQ setting on mine was "Flat". Some of the EQ presets (other than flat) sound really good. I don't know if you tried messing with those yet.

My MPG is much worth than these numbers hehe. I was at around 250 miles when I did my first gas up of about 10.5 gallons I think.

Welcome to Miami!

I will take delivery of the BRZ in less than two weeks.

Amazing MPG numbers from a MT BRZ.

I can't wait to see what mine will do on my usual trip East. I usually see my best avg mpg when I cross northern NY. Already I'm seeing a huge jump in mileage over my Legacy spec.B on my daily slog. So I hope to see some crazy mpg on my trip. :)

I'm a bit concerned about that. Is there an adjustment in the BRZ seat for lumbar support? The seats in my '06 GTI are amazing. Can sit in them for hours and if needed make adjustments to the lumbar as needed.

There isn't, unfortunately. But as one person pointed out, reclining the seat slightly to take some weight of your lower back helps. My WRX has racing seats which have zero lumbar support, and I've found that sliding a folded up T-shirt between my back and the seat helps.

I've done long trips in my STI and those seats are terrible. So I'm not too worried about the BRZ's seats.

That's great mileage!

As for the radio, I found that changing the fader/balance to about 1/3 more towards the rear than the center provides a better quality sound, I also use EQ 5 with the lows turned up a bit, I still need to tweak it some more but it sounds much better than stock.

hello,
is the mpg measured at the pump (miles driven / gallons) or from on-board computer?
When I measured mine, OBC showed 1mpg higher than what's calculated at the pump. It's pretty much the case with any cars I have owned.
You've got great MPG regardless!!

good to know! Now I know what to expect for mine. But dayum! 1400 in 2 days!!!!

You've really broken that car in now. Time for some spin outs, donuts, and drifts!

Damn you guys are getting much better mileage than I am. 26.2avg on the first tank. Hoping for 28 on this one.

Of course mine is mostly city :)

No lumbar adjustment. I wish it had it. However, a rolled or folded tshirt works.. ghetto but it works.

I have a 4-5 hour drive in the car tonight after re-pulling my back saturday.. not looking forward to it at all.

Mine was the opposite, showed 25.3 on the OBC and 26.2 based on the pump, I know the car was filled up all the way when I got it also, but I'm guessing that first 10 miles before fillup were more agressive than the ones after it :)
