Just went to the OC Auto Show and...

...I talked to the people over at the Toyota section and asked them about the FT-86 and where it was and SHOCKINGLY they said that the FT-86 will not be a TOYOTA but it will be manufactured under SCION! Now i think we all know Scion is registered under Toyota but that shocked me when i heard it from "MULTIPLE" Toyota representatives. But surprised to hear that they would do that even though this FT-86 is apparently the "re-birth" of the '86 Corolla. I asked them "why Scion?" they didn't give me a straight answer but they basucally said it was what they wanted. My guess is that they want Scion's rep to move up and Scion is more based for the "younger driver" so im guessing they thought it would best be suited under Scion.

Just like to know your guys' thoughts and beliefs about this...

Personally,I don't care if it is badged as a Scion.I'm just curious to see if they will price it in the $20K+ range. If they do,I definitely won't be cracking open my bank account;no Scion is worth that much.

With Lexus now coming out with a new IS Coupe in 2012. I think Toyota wants to steer more of the older people who were AE86 owners to the Lexus Coupe instead of the FT-86. That is their marketing plan all along anyways, to have a strong brand loyalty and as people get older and maybe richer to buy the higher end vehicles.
That leaves the cheaper vehicles with Scion to sell to the younger people with less money.

The current Lexus IS250 is around $32,000.

When scion puts out a concept it usually has a scion badge on it. The FT has a toyota badge. It could be that it is an international concept since it has not made it to the states yet. If it is a scion, it will be debadged and proper toyota badges will soon follow.
