It all started when I got fed up pricing out mods and maintenance on my aging BMW 135i. I had always loved lapping and auto x, but never had money or a well sorted car to compete in. I had driven a FRS once for about 4km on a low speed limit road but never really considered it, as I was power hungry for years before. Finally I had found a buyer for my 135i and offloaded it at a fair price after two years and 55000km of ownership. For some odd reason I had completely set my mind on buying a BRZ and keeping it completely stock and reliable for lapping and auto x, and daily driving duties. Boy did that change...

Day one, I didn't even drive the car home, I rented a truck and trailer. I had already broken my promise of not modding the car by ordering fog-light and reverse light overlays off Ebay. I had also broken my promise to daily drive the car and was still driving my shit beater 1994 Impreza wagon I had bought to drive while I sold my 135i.

After about 6 weeks I had become fed up with the Impreza Wagon as things were starting to fail (not surprising for a rebuilt title with 360000km that had lived a hard life). I got rally armors and weather-techs ordered and had my 3M guy at work do a very very comprehensive 3M job in prep to drive the car (read full hood, full fenders, roof, front bumper, mirrors, in front of rear wheel archs, behind rear wheel archs, rear bumper step lip)

The first time I drove the car to get the 3M installed, it looked like this. Somewhere along the way I had acquired some goldies with Hankook W310 winter tires on them:

The day the 3M was done and car polished and clean, I was already to take it home and dump my "Laggin Wagon" off to someone new. Unfortunately the 3M guy pointed out that I had a huge run in the top layers/clear coat behind the drivers side rear window. Immediately I drove to the dealer that sold me the car and had the service manager take a look. Luckily for me the district manager for parts and service was there as well and ok'ed repair immediately. I was a little bit pissed that my brand new car (complete with 42km on the odometer) was going to have almost half the car repainted and blended, but I knew there was nothing Subaru Canada was going to do for me.

The car went into the bodyshop a couple weeks after and had the paint repaired, I wasn't overly enthused with the job they did but they refused to redo it and Subaru Canada told me to leave them alone so I was stuck with a mediocre job.

Somewhere along the way I found some Rotiform NUEs in 17X8 +30, test fitted them, and decided they wouldn't fit properly.

Soon after that the auto x mod bug kicked in. I ordered RCE Yellow springs, Bilstein Sport shocks, Eibach sway bars, Raceseng CasCam plates, and SPC rear LCAs. I also found some 16x7 Volk TE37s with 225/50/16 Hankook RS-3s.

Voila:

The car went to one auto x event where it was freaking 5 degrees Celsius and snow on the ground and did really well. It also went lapping once with the same set up and was a hoot.

I test fitted the Rotiforms again and ALMOST ordered tires for them, but decided not to.

Soon after that I was hungry to put more meat under the suspension, on the hunt for better times at auto x. I settled on some 255/40/17 Z11s on 17x9 +35 720Form GTF-1s.

Someone threw up a used immaculate Greddy SP Elite exhaust, with enlarged mid-pipe in the summer, and I snagged it for $150 dropped off. It really didn't change the sound much but it sure made the rear bumper look better.

I also purchased a ton of Raceseng bling, the tugview tow hook, stiff bars, shift knob and lock out, and oil filter and filler caps all in matching bronze. Also threw some MAP Performance polished aluminum pulley covers on there at the same time.

I spent the summer auto xing and want lapping once more, the car was nothing more than a every other weekend race toy. I had a photo shoot done by Spencer Hogg (following photos credit to him).

In early September as the season was winding down I started considering some things to improve my STX setup for the nexy year, I ordered JDL Auto Design UEL header, overpipe and front pipe. October 5th was the last day I drove the car to finish the local auto x season, and I ended up with a second place overall PAX, 1st place overall Street Touring, and 8th place overall RAW out of 182 drivers that attended events that season.

In the fall I also ordered a custom license plate for my car which I accidentally copied another user here too.

One day late in October, I threw caution to the wind, and ordered a Kraftwerks C38 supercharger kit, and Skunk2 oil cooler. It was a total impulse buy even though I had gone back and forth in my mind for months and months before between selling the car, changing nothing, and boosting it.

As of now the car sits waiting for tuning, it will likely remain as a long term race/show/auto x project for many years to come for me.

Just out of curiosity, why did you choose Kraftwerks over a Sprintex or even a Jackson Racing SC?

Got a good deal, liked the support, bad experience with Jackson Racing on my Miata, reviews I read, impulse etc etc.

So far so good. I like that you're spending so much time behind the wheel.

Thanks, considering this car is basically a weekend toy, I still managed to put 16000km on it in roughly 6 months of actual driving.

I have almost put 6000km on my WRX since I bought it two months ago as well

Thanks. Brakes, different rear LCAs, more wheels with R comps, and aero next.

What kinda of Aero are you gonna do? I realize you have a BRZ and I have an FRS but i know they make the HT Autos kit for both. I've been leaning on it since it's cheap and if I knick a curb I won't die a little inside.

FT86 Speed Factory splitter and a Driveway Labs diffuser I think. Problem is I don't think I could get in and out of my driveway with either of those on the car...

Nice choice!

Sadly that's at my dads house not mine, he has a hoist, and a rack he puts his Caterham on to store over his project car for the winter months.
