Need help regarding exhaust!

Hey guys! Im new to car modding and had a question regarding the exhaust. I can get a good deal on a invidia n1 exhaust and was wondering if there are any cons to installing that without an upgraded header, overpipe, etc. Basically the car would be stock except for the exhaust system. Thanks in advance for the help!

It's okay to install the Invidia exhaust without the header. There is no direct cons by doing that. All you will get is a nicer and louder sounding exhaust, MAYBE a little gain but I'm always skeptical about cat-backs giving more power.

Down the road if you decide you want more performance gains, you could pair the Invidia with a nice header/overpipe/front pipe etc.

Lastly, welcome to the modding world!

Thanks for the reply Maverickgear! So no cons such as engine lights or anything?

Nope, almost a nil chance with a cat back. Installs associated with a engine light are mostly catalytic convertor related, such as a cat-less header or something similar. You're good to go!

Your car will be louder is the only adverse effect.

With just the N1, many people are happy; however, if you add more exhaust parts later on (front pipe, over pipe, header), the N1 becomes a bit too much for many people.

I set off car alarms with only the n1 style cat back hahahah (For reference to sound)

With the N1 Cat back alone, you wont run into any problems. You'll love the exhaust as soon as you hear it, i know i did. You will only encounter a check engine light when you either replace the front pipe or headers.

I am currently running aftermarket UEL headers, invidia FP and N1 CBE and im in love!

Good luck!

Front pipe shouldn't throw a CEL either, since O2 sensors are only at the header cat

I'm in the same boat with you and made the jump to buy it. Best choice I have ever made. Nice rumble but not obnoxiously loud either. No problems with lights or anything. Only problem is that I had a rear trd bumper and it was kind of rubbing it. I changed to kart boy long exhaust hangers and it sits perfect.
