Who traded "down"?

Just curious as to who feels they traded "down" from their previous vehicle to one of the twins, or if you feel like you traded up but your friends/family/society in general didn't really agree with that decision and felt you traded down.

Example 1 (based off the former): You had a Corvette and traded down to a FR-S. You loved your Vette and didn't really want to trade, but did so say for financial reasons.

Example 2 (based off the latter): I sold my 2011 Mustang GT to buy my FR-S. I traded up IMO based off what I wanted, but a few people felt I was going from a powerhouse to an underpowered go kart (I come from V8 horsepahr country).

I had a discussion with someone about this today, so I'm just curious what everybody else's predicament was when they decided to trade in.

Be sure to post your previous ride and why you traded!

Traded down from my ~300whp bugeye WRX. Loved that thing to pieces.

Unfortunately the engine famously took the piss and I sold it, put down cash for the asphalt I have now. In my mind I traded up holistically. Even though the FA20 isn't the most inspiring package out the box, I can't wait to flex it and see what I can do with the system!

I went from a $36k 4Runner to a much cheaper FR-S. The 4Runner was paid off but it drove me crazy seeing FR-Ss at the work parking lot every day. I wanted something playful soooo badly. So, I bought my wife a RAV4 Limited, sold my 4Runner, sold her Prius v, bought ab FROM-S for me. I feel like I traded up despite the frs being much cheaper.

I had a 1991 Toyota Pickup which I still have but no longer drive - it is now dedicated for the farm. Looked very similar to this one. FRS is my DD

Very nice! For 1991 car technology they are very well built. How many miles are on yours? I got mine with low miles (80,xxx) - I think it is at around 160,xxx right now.

Traded my BMW 335i. All my friends thought I was crazy. Family accepted it and so did wife, though the main thing is that I love the car and enjoy it way more than the BMW.

But I rather been seen as a enthusiast rather than a "baller"

Traded down from my sw20 I miss that bish..car had ats ct27 putting down 313hp on pump on 16lbs. The only reason I sold was car was impractical for daily use. So is the 86 but I love lightweight RWD cars lol.

No trade, I kept both my MR2s :D

Mine was more of a trade up. Can't say as though it was a total POS, Corolla's are pretty reliable, just not that exciting (although it was an XRS and had more torque than the FR-S).

not sure yet, but i owe $23k on a 2013 altima that's worth about $18.
if i get ANY trade in value, its a trade up for SURE! haha
either that or they take my accord... its a lease, got 30k miles on it already, and been hit TWICE :*( sad cuz i love the accord so much more than my wife's altima... even she admits it now lol

Interesting thread.

I figure I traded ..... across ....... from a 2006 Miata (MX-5).

Why did we trade?

mrs humfrz was tiring of the "top down" driving experience (after 88,000 touring miles). Also, the FR-S is a bit more comfortable (bit larger cabin, "back seat" to store stuff, quieter cabin) for the long haul.

For me ..... it's still a fun to drive car .....:burnrubber:

I definitely traded down but in terms of driving experience it's a lot more fun and painful. I do a lot of highway driving where a bit more power and comfort doesn't hurt as I don't have a good lower back or knee. Sold my Audi S4 for the FRS but I don't look back. I just look at how I can improve the FRS.
