New to OFT / Headers

So my friend is selling me his OFT and his borla uneven headers really soon, I was wondering when i reset the ecu, does this possibly void the warranty that my car has under scion? My friend wondered the same thing, i currently have he extended 8 year warranty on 10 series FRS.

Research the Magnuson Moss act.

The short answer is it won't void your warranty, but if something potentially related to the header or the tune fails you probably won't get it fixed under warranty.

Technically possible yes, if you don't flash back to stock before a visit to the dealership.

I think you mean unequal headers, but since they're Borla they may also be uneven
jk Borla luv u bb

the way OFT works is it makes a copy of your stock ECU along with your VIN number, and stores it on the device. Then you flash your tuned files for extra performance and other benefits.

if you need to bring the car back to the dealer and they will be checking the ECU, you can flash it back to stock pretty easily.

sounds like just unflashing my ecu will keep my warranty on my car intact, doesnt my check engine light turn on if i keep the headers on without having it flashed? does this mean i need to put my stock headers back on during a maintenance check?

Can I piggyback this thread with a question? Met a dude who has convinced me to get OFT. However, how do you update the software/tunes on it? Is a PC needed for this? I don't have a PC, I only have Mac, and am worried about future support.

I believe it works with both PC and Mac... I downloaded the most recent tuning maps to send to my OFT, and the zip file had a folder for PC files and one for macs.

That being said, OpenflashManager seems to be PC only. So there has to be some method for moving the new maps to the OFT without using OFM.

The openflash manager is written for windows only. You can bootcamp in Macs to run it however. This is the only way of uploading new maps to the tablet.

The firmware will be automatically updated once you connect to the OpenFlash manager, new mapping updates will be posted on our website and you must manually upload the map(s) onto your tablet. It's very simple, check out this video [ame="http://youtu.be/92SV3VpV_1E"]video[/ame]

new updates will be announced on this forum and other social media outlets such as facebook

+1 this !

OFT was designed to be very versatile !

Always smart to flash back before dealing with Toyota/Scion/Subaru @gepeyo !
