Sad Day Today
Its a sad day today, i don't know how this always happens but i guess i am just one of the few. Someone Came KNOCKING today. and its Sunday and there's no shops open. this sucks. Warmed My car up today 10-15 mins before i drove it. Got more then half way to work and hear a faint knocking, didn't sound to bad , then it just kept getting louder and louder. and my heart just dropped. Just got my oil changed the other day. and i checked it and it had just a few little bubbles in it. drove maybe three miles that way or so before i got to work. i only have 13k miles about and have no modification done but intake and exhaust. :iono:

Hoping it's just cold weather. Are you going to drive it home?
|
No I made it to work and have a fenced in area I can park it in till tomorrow
|
Lemon Law it
|
Who did your oil change?
|
Prob ran it low on oil before getting it changed?
|
My oil was normal before I changed it. And I watched them change my oil at a place up here in astoria

Defective vehicle. That's not supposed to happen with a new car
|
The Lemon Law is not your first option. Get the car to the dealership and try to resolve it with them first. If that doesn't work get in touch with regional customer service rep for Toyota/Subaru. Google Oregon Lemon Law. You have to fulfill a number of requirements before the lemon law can be invoked, and it will be a major pain in the ass. It's almost always a negotiated settlement, not just you get a new car.

Ya I just looked it up its a lot to be qualified for it. I'll find out tomorrow. Going to take it to the shop tomorrow. Since nothings open today
|
Found out its #4 that went bad
|
Do you know what failed yet? Suspect you lost a bearing or valve, both major surgery by engine standards. Hopefully the electronics or something quit and it's an easy fix.
To share a know how you're feeling moment. I hit a deer two weeks ago coming home from work. I got it fixed and back last week. New front clip, rh headlight, some minor structure, fender, hood and new door. Luckily I didn't bonk the alignment. I drove it to work this last week. Still stinks of paint fumes. My wife curbed it last night and whacked the alignment and ruined the brand freaking new front clip.:brokenheart: The paint work was better than OEM. I'm still not okay with at the moment. It'll pass, but it's gonna take a while.:mad0259::cry: She's too used to driving the Tacoma and bumping the tires. Good luck. |
Thank you. Ya it wasn't number 4 after actually looking at it it's number 3 still torn apart at the moment. It was a spun bearing. But they don't know what happen

Was this on your dipstick? Did you happen to notice what the oil level was? If it was way overfilled, the oil is churned by the crankshaft which leads to bubbles being circulated throughout the system. This inevitably leads to bearing failure. |
Woah - that can be a big job to fix. Bummer!

Actually i was driving normal, nothing crazy |
What @Ultramaroon says sounds most probable. I'd way rather be driving around missing a quart than be overfilled by a quart. Sounds like an oil pressure loss from either too much or way too little oil, ergo, it's the fault of whoever did this oil change.

Ya I checked it what i had been running it over 30mins, and it was full to the line but once i checked it in the morning after its been sitting almost 24hrs, It was way over. the shop told me they over filled it by 2QTS, never going to that place again. BUT. Everything is covered, which is nice and i should get my car back in a couple of weeks depending on the parts. im getting a whole new bottom end. Those damn Toyota guys try to get every way around it, it took them 12 days to come up with an answer. they tried everything they could saying i wasn't taking care of the car like i should but i proved them wrong. one thing to keep in mind always keep your receipts for anything done to your car. im sure most people know that though |

Should sticky this as a cautionary tale for others.

Please be careful with those dealerships up there. Specially if it's Lums. They will force the blame on you as much as they can. When my Tc engine blew they said it was my oil catch can because that was the only not stock..... Ya a oil catch can lol I had it installed because I was supercharged. I lived in Astoria most of my life and that dealership is horrible well and so is the Ford dealer. Good luck man! BTW I'm up there pretty often so if you see a slammed red Genesis coupe that would be me lol

I understand about the dealer, they are some cheap bastards when it comes time to dole out service on something that can't gouge you for. |

I knew too much oil was a problem, but never knew it was this type of a problem. I just figured extra windage losses, not the bubbles into the bearings leading to a catastrophic failure. Ouch.
