Winter Tire Question
Hey Guys, need your advice. I currently have 225/45/17 on a 17 X 9 +35 rim.
I am interested in purchasing winter tires and have found some Hankook Winter Ipikes in 225/45/17 as well. Will I be fine just switching out the tires? or do i need to go towards a different tire size? I like the balance of the way my car is with the rims and tires. My car is lowered BTW. Any useful advice would be appreciative. Thanks! http://i884.photobucket.com/albums/a...psfioisq9p.jpg |
Yes you will be fine

The inherent design of the winter tires will give you a much different ride and feel for the same nominal sizing. In your case, 225/45R17.
That being said, I personally wouldn't recommend stretching winter tires. Why not take this opportunity to purchase another set of skinnier wheels and appropriately sized tires? |
I run 205/50's on the stock 17" wheels, I wouldn't want a 9" wheel with wider tires in the snow.

thanks guys, there is a good deal on these tires that i can get if i act quickly, don't want to spend too much. I also want to try to "look" the same without changing anything if that make sense.

225/45/17 iPikes will perform great in snow, I've had them myself. Why you're putting either winter or summer 225 tires on a 9" rim is a good question though.
