Fuel consumption figures too

Okay, this is probably not something that most people were looking out for yesterday, but we actually got fuel consumption figures based on the Australian testing format.

Manual is rated at 7.8L per 100km and auto is 7.1L per 100km.

To put that into context, the Corolla gets 7.3L per 100km in manual form. A WRX on the other hand is over 10L per 100km.

This fuel economy figure is actually really impressive. I don't know about you guys, but I figured out that every L per 100km is worth around $2k to me over 5 years.

Given that it has a high compression ratio I was expecting it to be quite efficient.

and this is everything you need to know about the car...

But it has confused me regarding the 80's era clock we've been 'blessed' with.
According to Nagaya's interior walkthrough it is a 'feature' of 'Neo Functionalism'.
And according to Section 16 it's to evoke Toyota's heritage.

This is obviously a most pressing issue to get resolved as I want to be able to respond informatively when my passengers inevitably wax lyrical about it. ;)

Fuel consumption also really depends on how you drive the car, if you're going to be VTECin this car all day long (a.k.a high revving it in suburban streets constantly, expect your fuel consumption to go through the roof)

According to the ECU-cracking posts doing the rounds on here I've read, the torque dip in the rev range for relaxed driving is also a deliberate attempt to improve economy, too. So if you mod your ECU, you'll have the option to enjoy lower fuel consumption more often.

LOL! both @Maj3sty and @LeftFootBrake are right, Its been a while since I did chemistry, but either way, I think petrol evaporates eventually. =P

it runs on 98% RON !!!!

davey90 06-05-2012 01:09 AM

Oh yeah! Speaking about octane... It's recommended to run on Premium 98 RON, what was the minimum octane it can run, does it even have a minimum octane level? I remember reading some where, someone said 91 RON. I think Japan runs like 100 RON or was it 102 RON.

BRZ manual recommended 98, but said 95 was fine too.

I think it's better to stick with the recommended ones,IMO.. might prevent knocking

Hi I'm really worried about fuel consumption on my new FT 86 , I'm in argentina. So this version it's the same as SCION FRS. I'm getting around 25 litres every 100km where it should be around 7.8 for every 100km .
I've got the manual version , am I driving badly. I enabled the G on feature which tells you the proper timing to shift the gears. I pressume I might have a bad batch. Can you guys help me out. I've already used a 1/4 of the fuel tank and I've done 30km max.
What should I do?
