RS 1.0 Impressions?

Hi I haven't been on in a while but I'm considering trading my red for the 1 series. I love that yellow and I am quite find of the body kit. I've seen a few threads regarding the 1 but nothing much on the emphasis of the minor nuances that the newer model has. Does the exhaust provide extra hp? Anyone else upgrade to a 1? I also must add that I'd be transitioning from an auto to a manual as well. My frs is also pretty much stock.

Think of all the different models as appearance packages. All models have the same performance. The only non-visual change was in 2015 when the frs suspenaion was tuned to be more like the brz.

The RS also has TRD springs in America.

I just got my RS the other day. You won't be finding any more power at all, but that exhaust... sounds amazing :)

The ride is definitely lower and a bit stiffer, will have to watch out for dips and bumps more. Other than this handling difference, it drives the exact same. Cosmetic changes are all judged by preference.

The steering wheel is alot thicker (like alot), and I personally am not a big fan of it for extended driving, but I also have tiny hands. Oh and HIDs and DRLs are AWESOME.

Bump for more opinions :)

Do you still owe on your FRS? If you do then trading it in for another one just to have the TRD stuff isn't worth it. Save up and just add better parts.

It's not worth it if you already own the car.

Anyone have the automatic RS 1.0? Thoughts about it? The manual ones at two local dealers are gone, so they only have the automatics left.

Couldn't you ask any automatic frs driver as they have the same transmission?

The SCCA seems to think that the RS 1.0 will have an unfair advantage over a standard 2013-2015 FR-S and BRZ. It is not allowed to run in C-Street with those models. So saying that it will have the same performance may not be entirely accurate.

Wow, because of some lip panels?
In that case this should be up with the super cars:

I don't have an RS but specs show the M/T cars are lighter and have shorter geared trannies (same final drive) than the A/T cars resulting in quicker acceleration times according to every road test I've read.

Haven't read any acceleration tests of the RS. I suspect it's slower than the stock car with added weight from the body kit and possibly heavier exhaust.

Care to trade for my M/T wheel?

Does the SCCA have to look dumber than it already is?
