Subaru Map Update Now Available - June 2014

The new maps are available!

You have to register and download their software to install the update. The download costs $149.99+tax, the one listed as (BRZ)@$184.99 is for them to send an SD card to you with the new maps on it (you can buy an SD card adapter for much cheaper, if you don't have one).

Download Subaru PC Tool here:

Pro Tip:

I contacted someone at Subaru and they are reimbursing me for the download. Just make a big deal out of your car coming with 2011 maps.

Just curious. What keeps someone from sharing the update on the internet? Seems silly in the age of smartphones and Google Maps that we have to pay for map updates.

Not advocating anything.

Probably encrypted.

Our Nav units are horrible, I couldn't image using it for anything.

alexand3r 11-13-2014 10:41 AM

I don't think they're that terrible, anyway, just sharing a way to get a free update - hopefully it helps someone. I was just astounded that the unit came with 2011 maps, lol.

And, yes, the SD card uses an encryption key loaded on the SD card for your licensed files... The update takes forever!

Wait, which vehicles came with 2011 maps? Is this the first update since the car was released? Because I just bought mine and I'm wondering if I have older maps now. If so I expect I could get them to cover the cost for me...

Mine is a 2013. Just pop out the SD card (with the car off) and it will say the version of maps that you have on the sticker.

The 2014 maps just came out, so I'd definitely give it a shot.

Hmm. I will have to check this when I got home. Only had the car for a month now. I think I should be entitled to the 2014 maps on a 2015 car, lol.

+1

Dealing with SoA = :mad0259:

alexand3r 11-14-2014 11:10 AM

The SD card files are encrypted. Unless you know how to clone the SD card and correct the checksum, it won't work.

SoA actually wasn't bad at all. I expected the worst and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to get reimbursed.

Is this applicable/available to FR-S with nav? I've never seen an SD port...

Nope, the BRZ Head Unit is completely different.
