Down goes the raven :(

Sorry to make another one of these post but can anyone who may have some experience in estimating let me know about how much damage I am looking at? Lady decided to run a stop sign and plowed into me in the middle of a busy intersection. I am fairly positive it's not totaled but I could be wrong. Driver side air bag did deploy. There's also some rear axle damage as the rear wheel got hit pretty good and obviously isn't straight in the wheel well anymore. Trunk floor board is crumpled up too. Car has 52,000 miles on it.

Let's put it into perspective...

This is the damage to my car from a couple of months ago...

His insurance estimated it at $4300 in damages, the body shop for the dealership I work for estimated $5200 in damages...

So figure that yours will likely cost three times that, they may total it.

Jaden

p.s. funny too, cause I was just getting ready to post a thread about this...

Wow. $5200 for that is pretty steep. Yea I was guessing mine would be able $10-12k in damages but I'm not sure if that's enough to call it a total lost or not.

YIKES .......that's a bad hit ......:(

I doubt they will try to fix it.

rear quarter panels and roof are all one single piece from what i can see. This leads to high costs to fix those parts when damaged.

Tears have already been shed :brokenheart: I'm ready to move on now. Hope they just total it out as it will never be the same now

So was she texting, or eating breakfast, or just decided that stop signs didn't apply to her on that particular day?

VacantSky 11-12-2014 08:28 AM

Yeah that's probably a junk yard car now. Trunk crumpled? I wouldn't want to drive it.

Ya, it will get a salvage title then 6 months from now there will be a post here saying "Just got a really nice Raven that had to be rebuilt after an accident" or "what do you guys think of this deal? It was a salvage car that got hit in the back, etc. etc."

Oh, and with all the "thin paint" complaints why do all these seriously damaged cars always seem to have very little actual paint damage? A small stone leaves a big chip but a major crumple looks like it could be bent back out (know it is more than that) buffed up and the paint will look as good as new.

^^^^
Seriously I was just wondering that. My FR-S looks like it has more body damage then my 23 year old VR4. Yet in all the pictures I've seen of these that may get totaled the paint doesn't have a single imperfection even if its on pieces all over the floor. I'm sorry this happened to you JW. Hopefully you find something good. If you get about 23k for it you could get a decent 6spd TT Supra. Hell You'd be able to get a stock auto TT Supra in near immaculate shape for that much.
