I currently own a 2013 scion frs w/ 28k miles, and im trying to decide whether to keep it or sell it, im thinking that if i sell it i would add some extra $$ and get one of these 4 cars: 1. 335i jb4 2. 370z 3. evo x gsr 4.subaru sti.... all four would be older than 2011 with 50k miles minimum. Is it worth doing this or should i keep the car for a while until something newer would come out?

You actually expect some form of unbiased answer on this forum?
If the car does not meet your current needs/wants change to one that does.

I have been debating the same exact choices. It just makes sense to keep your ride for now. Think about how much you lost on it when driving it off the showroom floor
(if you indeed bought it brand new). If the car is good to you over the next few years then it is paying itself off. Don't swap for something older with more miles. I am going to keep my FRS for good. Then in the next few years buy an older pick up or SUV. Then add boost or an engine swap. Cars are such a poor investment. If you are deciding to sale and having to get an older car with more miles. You're probably not in the best financial situation to fix an older car with more miles. Bimmers and Nissans are not cheap to fix. I still have a factor warranty on my FRS and so should you. That's a great feeling!

I've owned a 2004 BMW 325i since new (180,000 miles now), it's a wonderful driving car and mine has been very reliable. BMWs, like other German cars, require you to stay on top of the maintenance at all times for them to dependable (I've owned five German cars). I've done every single bit of maintenance on my BMW since day one - never brought it to the dealer for anything.

I'm looking to get back to a Japanese car for a daily. The nice thing about most Japanese cars is that you can neglect them just a bit - or a lot - and the thing will rarely fail you. Not that I neglect my cars but staying on top of the preventive maintenance on a BMW can be a lot of work, especially when you drive 25,000 + miles a year like a do. I have a stack of receipts an inch thick (not kidding) for the BMW and that is all regular and preventive maintenance.

I miss the Hondas that I'd owned in the past for the carefree reliability and might get back there with a BRZ.

Just something to think about while considering a BMW, especially a newer one out of warranty.

Modern cars are a bad investment, better to keep what you have and drive it into the ground.
