Thin, long oil cooler element
 

After moving my radiator forward (FB radiator with Spal fans and shroud) I have a large space above the radiator, that I can either dam up with some foam, or I was thinking if there was a thin, long oil cooler element made, that I could run my oil cooler on top of the radiator and fill that open space.

This would allow me to not have to remove my front bumper AGAIN, as it's already not fitting back the way it should. I fear any more removals of the bumper will make the fitment even worse.

Is there an oil cooler element made that's maybe 2'' tall by 12'' long.

Maybe someone could post a link to a listing of oil cooler elements of different sizes?

What is so Fail about this cooler? Size-wise it seems perfect for what I need.

The Koyo looks WAY nicer, but may be just a bit too tall.

Do you think there's any issue with mounting the cooler higher (basically on top of the radiator)? Like maybe gravity draining and momentary pressure loss on startups?

I've been thinking about a similar layout. That one doesn't come close to the aspect ratio I was picturing. I could be way off base.

This will be my first oil cooler and I'm the guy that primes the new oil filter for the same reason you're considering the drainage issue. I have no idea how that is handled but now I'm with you. Thanks.

I've made mods for better cooling on my car, and the oil cooler is the last piece of the puzzle.

I've removed the crash beam and installed a crash bar, installed the larger FB radiator with forward placement, cut holes in my front bumper, modified my skidplate for better evacuation of hot engine bay air.

I have a 2'' space above my radiator and the upper structure of the car, where presently air just goes up and over the radiator.

Engine bay temps are great, but I had still planned on damming the space with foam, or installing a thin, long oil cooler across the top of the radiator.

This will help by sealing off that hole, forcing more air through the radiator and intercooler, and hopefully also through the oil cooler as well.

I'm also hoping I can install the cooler without removing my front bumper for the 20th time. I already need to take it to a body shop to get aligned properly because as hard as I try, I can only get one side to snap on perfectly, and the skewed body line between the bumper and fender bugs the shit out of me. My perfect car shouldn't have a mal-fitting bumper.

Isn't the length more like 2 feet, though? That's what I've been picturing.
