Car Allocation - Paid deposit - dealer does't have the car
Hi all,
(Begin Rant) So I put down the car and colour transmission spec etc that I wanted and put down my order some months ago like we all did. I was under the impression that the car yard I went to and ordered it from would be allocated that car and spec so if the price was right I could pay the full about and away I go. i was first in line with a deposit so I thought I would get first refusal. My mistake..... The car yards seem to have blind luck then on what they are allocated and the try to swap / barter with other car years to get what you wanted. However I was told that one of the sales men was able to get the car he ordered and has preference to that to I cannot have that one. What a crock of Shit!!!!! I placed my order so when the rest of Australia finally wanted one they would have to get inline. Now it seems any car dealer who wanted one will get there car and the general public will have to wait. If they cannot find a dealer that will trade what they have been allocated i could be waiting quit along time to get what I ordered. If some one else would like to enlighten me on this whole process feel free to go nuts and fill me in on how this process works altogether. Thanks very much in advance. (End of Rant) |
Had the same problem last week. I just found someone else to buy the car from.

that sux dude :(
i kinda thought something like that would happen. Dealers are swapping between themselves to try and get the stock consumers want. Not to rub salt into your wounds, but i had no deposit down at 1pm today, and have now been guaranteed late june early july delivery. mind you she couldnt give me a VIN yet so i may have to come back and rant too. Sorry :( |

Illawarra toyota
I emailed 42 NSW dealers today, and then the ones that could help came to me. i started out calling a few dealerships and thought... F that, a few people were helpful but all in all, email is so much more practical. i got yes's no's and maybe's give me your moneys. easy to sort through. Within 10 minutes of sending i had found my car Edit- Mind you i live on north shore of sydney and now i gotta 100km to pick it up but small price to pay |
All the cars are in the computer and toyota guys will happily tell you your cars spec/colour/build date/location/eta and stuff.
They openly show me that info on all the cars and I'm not even a customer. Did they show you their allocated stock for you to pick one, and then later tell you that you couldn't have it? If so that would really suck. If not isn't it possible someone else ahead of you asked for the same combo? |

I am going to be on to this though and make sure they follow it up straight away as every day goes by it will be harder to get. In fact I might start ringing around to see what people have myself. Thanks for your input! |

And if you end up finding another dealer let us know who the original dealer was - so they get none of our money too. |
Dealers will not swap cars when there is demand, I had same issue when buying a Prado just after the Tsumani last year.
GL with it but |

I would have been thinking that if you pre-ordered early that stock would be allocated based on pre-orders for the first batch. Sounds kinda stupid to have cars sitting at dealerships when people have pre-ordered months ago. I was kinda worried about what happened to @Neilus@ so I asked my cousin that works at Toyota and he said it was best to order from the main dealerships owned by Toyota, not the franchises. Hopefully I will get mine ASAP. Feel for u neilus. I would be spewing. Ring around and put ur name down ASAP...... |
