Auto Trans issue
Hate having to write in this column, but got a check engine light tonite on the way home from work. Scanned it with my OFT and nothing is found so I believe it to be a tranny ECU issue. Took the car for a good drive and could find anything wrong until I put it in manual mode. Normally manual mode rev matches very quickly on down shifts. With this engine light on it down shifts slowly, it rev matches but much slower than it should. Any one else run into this? My car goes in next Monday for an oil change so Toyota will have a look then. I'll flash back to the stock rom a few days before hand.

Thats going to happen when the car has a cel.
|
It's in a sort of limp home mode. Wants to keep you from destroying it.
|
As feldy said, whenever there's a CEL, this car will go into as "safe" mode? Thus, no auto rev-matching.
Strange that OFT couldn't find it and let you clear the code...hm Good luck. Honesty, I don't think theres anything within Vishnu's tune that should mess with the TCU. |
I'm not worried about my oft tune, just seems strange.... See what toyota says
|
I assumed limp mode wouldn't allow the car to Rev past 3500 rpm. The car works100% other than the downshifting speed
|
Why not flash back to stock and see if that clears the light?
At least you will have an idea if it is actually the tune. |
Yeah I'm going to try that tonite
|
Tune has been in the car for over a month though. Just the OFT stg 2 uel 91 Oct tune with the modifications made for the billet power blocks. I'll try running the stg 2 tune without the bpb modifications. Ran that tune for prior without issue

Well for an update, I plugged in my oft this time and it picked up the codes, p015a, p015b. Both are what I believe to be concerns with the secondary 02 sensor. Had no issues at all with catless headers until the temperature started dropping up here in Canada. Since the car runs rich longer due to the negative temps. I'm thinking it might be fouling the 02 sensor. Does this make sense?
